Description
The successful candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation within a Medical Device or Pharmaceutical environment and possess hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring delivery to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, OEMs, and system integrators.
- Develop project plans, schedules, resource requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate design reviews, equipment integration activities, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and project handover.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for automation-related activities across manufacturing and engineering functions.
- Support the specification, implementation, and optimisation of Allen-Bradley PLC-based control systems.
- Oversee the integration and deployment of Fanuc robotic systems and Cognex machine vision applications within automated manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Validation, and Maintenance teams to ensure compliant and sustainable automation solutions.
- Manage vendors and external partners to ensure project deliverables meet technical and business expectations.
- Ensure all engineering activities are executed in accordance with GMP requirements, site procedures, and change control processes.
- Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, performance, and throughput.
- Bachelor's Degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, or related Engineering discipline.
- 7–8 years' experience delivering automation projects within Medical Device or Pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience leading automation projects and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Allen-Bradley PLCs and associated control architectures;
- Fanuc industrial robotics;
- Cognex Vision systems.
- Knowledge of industrial networking, control system integration, and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Familiarity with GMP-regulated environments, validation practices, and change management processes.
- Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects through to successful completion.
