Description
Title and salary will be determined by the education and experience of the successful candidate.
- Provide leadership, strategic direction, and supervision of employees;
- Serve as an executive team leader for the division of university advancement, overseeing and managing all income, expenditures, and overall budgets for the division;
- Develop and maintain internal financial management policies and procedures, performance measures, and dashboards;
- Practice good accounting principles, including following IRS and state guidelines and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), as well as general foundation policies, procedures, laws, and regulations;
- Responsible for oversight of short-term cash, gifts of stock, gift, and other revenue processing, expenditure processing, financial reporting, regulatory filings, internal auditing, and risk management activities;
- Oversee timely completion of monthly general ledger management and accounting close, e.g. accruals, deferred revenue, sub ledger reconciliation and other monthly closing procedures;
- Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and prepare the annual budget in consultation with the Executive Director, divisional leadership, and the Board of Directors to align with strategic goals;
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records along with ensuring compliance of all financial reporting and regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and other reporting requirements;
- Collaborate with the Board to ensure compliance with all applicable financial, accounting, legal, and regulatory requirements and best-practice standards;
- Ensure a system of strong internal controls;
- Collaborate with the Board to ensure compliance with board-approved investment policies, regulatory requirements, and best practice standards;
- Ensure proper management and stewardship of donor funds, maintaining trust and transparency;
- Ensure timely reporting of investment and financial activity to donors and fundholders;
- Serve as primary contact on behalf of the foundation and its related entities for banking relationships, investment managers, and other professionals;
- Manage risk by collaborating with insurance agents to secure proper liability coverage (D&O, cybersecurity, etc.);
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, nonprofit administration, or a closely related field is required;
- Minimum of five years of full time work experience in accounting, finance, or financial management is required;
- Prior experience in nonprofit accounting, supervisory experience, and higher education experience are preferred;
- Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge software experience is preferred;
- Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance is required;
- Leadership/management skills with experience building and leading high-performing teams is preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
