Job Description:

Why this Role Matters

The Inventory Control Coordinator at ITW in Paris, Kentucky plays a critical role in ensuring manufacturing operations have the tooling, materials, and non-inventory supplies needed to meet customer demand. You will leverage analytical thinking and 80/20 principles to optimize inventory levels, improve material availability, reduce stock-outs and excess inventory, and strengthen supplier performance. Success in this role means maintaining a reliable supply chain that supports operational efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Do

  • Analyze inventory levels and consumption patterns to ensure on-hand materials meet manufacturing requirements, including expedited and exceptional production needs as communicated.
  • Support root cause analysis initiatives by evaluating reports, identifying usage trends, monitoring consumption changes, and investigating unusual inventory patterns.
  • Manage the RFQ process for all non-inventory materials, tooling, and related supplies.
  • Place purchase orders and proactively follow up on open orders while ensuring compliance with established pricing, discounts, and purchasing terms.
  • Establish and maintain Kanban systems and visual min-max inventory controls to promote effective communication, reorder accuracy, and operational continuity during employee absences.
  • Purchase replacement tooling and machine components in accordance with established Kanban replenishment processes.
  • Prepare, assemble, and issue tooling kits to support efficient manufacturing machine setups.
  • Maintain inventory and purchasing systems to effectively communicate inventory status, usage, orders, pricing, delivery schedules, and deadlines with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Procure materials and services from approved suppliers, communicate price changes, and expedite deliveries to support operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop and maintain replenishment, restocking, and consignment inventory programs.
  • Negotiate credits, pricing adjustments, and delivery accommodations; communicate production schedule changes and secure supplier commitments to prevent shipment delays while processing purchase orders.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing documentation, including acknowledgments, amendments, and supply requisitions; review packing slips for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and submit documentation to Accounts Payable to ensure timely supplier payments.
  • Assist with supplier scorecards and performance evaluations while supporting supplier consolidation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable to investigate and resolve discrepancies involving packing slips, purchase orders, and supplier invoices.
  • Generate and analyze monthly spending reports, providing leadership with insights into purchasing trends and cost management opportunities.
  • Manage inventory levels and place orders for production and packaging supplies through the SAP system to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Develop and maintain min-max inventory strategies for production and packaging supplies to optimize stock levels and material availability.
  • Conduct routine cost analyses and sourcing reviews to identify savings opportunities, improve supplier performance, and support cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

What You Bring (Requirements)

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of purchasing, inventory control, buyer, MRO, or tooling analyst experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing processes, inventory management, and supply chain principles.
  • Proficiency with SAP or similar ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications; CMMS experience (FIIX preferred).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders; maintenance parts knowledge preferred.

What’s In It for You

Join a collaborative manufacturing environment where your work directly impacts production performance and operational excellence. You will have opportunities to drive process improvements, influence inventory strategy, and partner with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
