Overview

The Senior Avionics Systems Engineer works on both new product development and legacy product sustaining support activities in Melbourne, Florida. Responsibilities include system requirements analysis, definition, allocation, and validation, system architecture design, system integration and requirements verification testing, and coordination among systems, hardware, and software design functions. The role requires aerospace industry experience, proficiency with Python/Perl scripting tools, familiarity with Communication products such as HF/VHF radios and/or Satcom systems, and knowledge of avionics regulations and certification standards. This is an onsite position with potential for immigration sponsorship.

This is an onsite position in Melbourne, Florida.

What You Will Do:

  • This position may encompass both new product development and legacy product sustaining support activities.
  • Specific responsibilities of this position span all phases of system product development including system requirements analysis, definition, allocation, and validation, system architecture design
  • System integration and requirements verification testing
  • Coordination among systems, hardware, and software design functions and developing systems related documentation. 
  • Senior engineers will be available to provide mentoring to develop your skills as a system engineer and to increase your depth of knowledge in Comm/Satcom technologies.


Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Aerospace industry experience is required
  • Experience with Python, Perl or other script writing tools
  • Familiarity with Communication products such as HF/VHF radios and/or Satcom systems.
  • System level requirements decomposition/analysis, system design and allocation to subsystems/products System integration planning and execution, and system level verification and validation. 
  • Experience interfacing with system, subsystem, and product teams in the allocation of system level requirements, decomposition into lower-level requirements and design decisions, and resolution of problem reports


Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Exhibiting strong team skills working with both domestic and international team members
  • Effective time management and ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Working with other disciplines such as Hardware and Software
  • Working knowledge of avionics regulations and certification standards including TSO standards, DO-160, DO-254, and DO-178B/C
  • Working knowledge of Guidelines for Development of Civil Aircraft and Systems ARP4754

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
