Lead the mechanical engineering delivery of the next generation of hardware products from concept through to production. Accountable for defining mechanical requirements and keeping JDM (Joint Development Manufacturing) partners accountable to delivering robust, manufacturable solutions that balance Engineering, Industrial Design (ID), and Manufacturing needs to achieve successful product outcomes for global markets.
What you’ll do
- Lead the end-to-end mechanical engineering delivery of next-generation consumer hardware products, from concept through to mass production, across Entertainment, Connectivity and Smart Home product portfolios.
- Define mechanical requirements aligned to performance, cost, quality, reliability and manufacturability objectives, driving design decisions and trade-offs to achieve programme goals.
- Develop and refine mechanical architectures, design processes and engineering standards that optimise product quality, cost efficiency and high-volume manufacturing readiness.
- Act as the mechanical engineering lead within cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring alignment between Engineering, Industrial Design and Manufacturing functions.
- Partner with JDMs, suppliers and manufacturing partners to translate product requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions while maintaining delivery timelines and product quality.
- Lead DFM, DFA and DFR activities, stage-gate reviews and risk management processes, proactively identifying and mitigating design, manufacturing and quality risks.
- Define and oversee validation activities including DFMEA, tolerance analysis, design verification testing, root cause investigations and compliance with regulatory, safety and internal quality standards.
- Drive cost and delivery performance through BOM and tooling strategy reviews, cost optimisation initiatives, status reporting and support for key milestones including builds, tooling readiness and mass production.
What you’ll bring
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering or a related discipline, and commercial experience in a mechanical engineering or product design environment.
- Proven experience delivering mechanical design and development of high-volume consumer electronics products from concept through production.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection moulding, die casting and sheet metal fabrication, with expertise in designing for high-volume manufacture.
- Demonstrated experience in DFM, DFA, DFR, tolerance analysis, reliability engineering, DFMEA and design validation methodologies.
- Strong leadership skills with experience working across global, cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders to achieve successful product outcomes.
- Proven ability to manage and hold external suppliers, manufacturing partners and JDMs accountable for quality, cost, delivery and engineering performance.
- Advanced CAD capability, ideally using SolidWorks, with experience developing mechanical architectures and detailed product designs.
- Strong understanding of thermal management principles, simulation tools and their application within consumer electronic products.

How you’ll work
We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 2 days in the office per week.
