Description
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Project Manager to join our team and oversee renovation, tenant improvement, and commercial building projects throughout Central Virginia.
We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of project management experience working for a commercial general contractor and the ability to independently manage projects from preconstruction planning through final completion and closeout.
Important: Direct commercial general contracting experience is required. Candidates with residential-only construction experience will not qualify.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction planning through construction, final turnover, and closeout.
- Develop project schedules, track milestones, and implement corrective actions to maintain project timelines.
- Oversee subcontractor agreements, scopes of work, procurement, change orders, and contractual requirements.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, requests for information (RFIs), submittals, and other project documentation to resolve issues and maintain coordination.
- Coordinate with clients, owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and our superintendents and field teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Manage project budgets, purchase orders, costs, and profitability while identifying and addressing financial variances.
- Lead project meetings, communicate decisions, track action items, and ensure outstanding issues are resolved promptly.
- Work closely with our field leadership to monitor construction progress, workmanship, safety, and schedule compliance.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to costs, scheduling, materials, and scope changes.
- Coordinate material deliveries, inspections, punch-list completion, warranty requirements, and final owner handover.
- Provide regular project updates to clients and our company leadership, escalating concerns and recommending solutions as needed.
