Business Analyst – Theta Team

Reason for Vacancy: Back fill for Ameila - Provide dedicated business analysis capability within Theta team to support delivery of digital health products and services, including requirements definition, story writing, stakeholder engagement, process improvement, governance and transition towards sustainable live service operations.

Mandatory Skills and Knowledge
- Gather, analyse, validate and prioritise business, user and service requirements, translating them into clear user stories, acceptance criteria and other delivery-ready artefacts.
- Analyse and document current and future business and operational processes, identifying gaps, impacts, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Plan and facilitate workshops, interviews and collaborative sessions with product, delivery, engineering, user research, clinical, governance, cyber, operational and customer & supplier stakeholders.
- Work with User Researchers to translate user needs, feedback and operational challenges into business and technical requirements.
- Support options appraisal and impact assessment, using evidence to inform prioritisation, minimum viable product decisions and solution design.
- Maintain traceability between needs, requirements, designs, tests and delivered outcomes; support business and user acceptance testing.
- Capture and progress decisions, actions, risks, issues and dependencies through agreed governance and delivery processes.
- Support supplier onboarding and engagement, ensuring requirements, actions and dependencies are clearly understood across organisations.
- Contribute to clear product and service documentation, including process models, implementation guidance and onboarding materials.
- Help establish scalable, repeatable working practices and support the team’s transition towards sustainable Business-as-Usual operations.
Essential capabilities
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through ambiguity and distinguish user needs from proposed solutions.
- Effective requirements elicitation, analysis, prioritisation, validation and documentation skills.
- Process modelling, gap analysis, impact assessment and continuous-improvement capability.
- Confident workshop facilitation and stakeholder management across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly, concisely and in a form appropriate to the audience.
- Understanding of agile or product-led delivery and the contribution of multidisciplinary team roles.
- Strong organisation and documentation skills, with attention to quality, version control and traceability.
- Ability to identify risks and dependencies and support proportionate mitigation and governance.
Required Experience
- Previous experience as a Business Analyst in a digital, technology, data or product delivery environment. Health experience advantageous.
- Experience gathering and documenting requirements and producing user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps and impact assessments. Jira experience advantageous.
- Experience facilitating workshops and working across multiple disciplines and organisations.
- Experience supporting iterative delivery, testing, implementation or service transition activities.
- Desirable: experience of NHS, healthcare, public-sector digital services, interoperability, APIs, data exchange, system integration, supplier onboarding or governance forums.
Adaptability
The successful candidate will be pragmatic, delivery-focused and comfortable moving between strategic analysis and detailed delivery tasks. They will adapt their approach to the team’s priorities, work constructively with changing requirements and be willing to learn unfamiliar business and technical domains.
Technical
Technically aware without needing to be a technical specialist. Able to work confidently with engineers and architects and understand concepts relating to APIs, data flows, integrations, service operations, security and technical dependencies. Familiarity with Jira, Confluence and Microsoft 365 collaboration tools is desirable.
