• Classification: Hourly (Non-exempt) Full-Time
• Department: Maintenance
• Schedule: M-F 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
• Location: Delaware, OH; Olentangy Campus

Summary of Responsibilities

This position supports the safe and reliable operation of Del-Co Water's fleet of more than 330 assets, including vehicles, heavy equipment, trailers, and generators. 

• Technician I - Performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs while assisting with more complex diagnostic and repair work and developing technical skills. 
• Technician II - Independently performs diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment and serves as a technical resource for fleet operations.

Essential Duties

• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on Del-Co's fleet of vehicles and equipment.
• Coordinate routine service, repair, and inspection activities with the employee or department assigned to the vehicle or equipment.
• Support the maintenance of generators and transfer switches in emergency-ready condition.
• Complete work orders and accurately record labor, parts, inspection results, and other work data in Del-Co's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Assist with preventive maintenance tasks, fleet asset records, parts receiving, shop inventory, and other fleet-related administrative duties.
• Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely and in accordance with training and established procedures.
• Identify equipment concerns and promptly communicate needed repairs, parts, safety issues, or conditions requiring assistance from a higher-level technician.
• Provide responsive service to fleet users by communicating work status and helping return vehicles and equipment to service efficiently.
• Continue to develop technical knowledge through on-the-job training, manufacturer information, and role-specific education or certifications.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and comply with Del-Co safety, environmental, and EPA policies and procedures.
• Assist other departments with fleet and equipment needs as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Technician I: 

• Assist higher-level maintenance technicians with diagnostics and repairs involving chassis, engines, drivelines, steering, suspension, cooling, air-conditioning, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Technician II:

• Independently diagnose and repair chassis, engine performance, driveline, steering, suspension, cooling, air-conditioning, electrical, and hydraulic systems; install accessories and fleet equipment as assigned.
• Assist with inventory management, purchase requests, fleet asset records, and provide technical guidance regarding proper maintenance practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education, training, and work experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the position successfully.

• High school diploma or GED. 
• Technician I: Related vocational education, apprenticeship or military training, or at least one year of experience in automotive, truck, heavy-equipment, industrial, or fleet maintenance is preferred.
• Technician II: Related technical training and at least three years of experience performing fleet, automotive, truck, heavy-equipment, industrial, or generator maintenance. 
• Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.
• Basic knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, vehicle systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic equipment is preferred.
• Ability to safely use common hand and power tools; experience with shop equipment, welding, torch work, or metal cutting is helpful.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, service information, equipment manuals, safety procedures, and written instructions.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn Del-Co's computerized maintenance management system and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication, organization, dependability, and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow direction and ask for assistance when needed.
• Ability to perform manual labor and work indoors or outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
• CDL and role-specific certifications, such as ASE, A/C, or Air Brakes, are preferred. Employees may be required or encouraged to obtain certifications as they develop in the role.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
