The primary goals of this position are manual work directly associated with the completion of a variety of tasks as identified in the examples of listed work activities, to provide support to Facility Services and the University campus through various miscellaneous activities, as directed, and work as performed under guidance of a Custodial Lead or Custodial Supervisor.
Shift: Monday – Friday, hours may vary. Some weekend work required.

Key Job Responsibilities:
- Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
- Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
- Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
- Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed

A team approach is utilized throughout the department to provide a safe environment and excellence in service. The department interacts extensively with customers, campus community, service providers, and outside contractors to support a wide range of facility related operations, maintenance, and repairs. The skill, ability and knowledge of the team have a direct and profound impact on the success and satisfaction of the services delivered to the campus.
Compensation & Benefits:
The Custodian is a full-time, hourly position. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting hourly wage of $16.18.

Required Qualifications:
Physical strength and stamina to perform required work -- able to bend, stoop, kneel, move furniture and work on feet for long periods of time
Respect for and trustworthy behavior with public and private property
Ability to accept and follow supervisory direction
Knowledge of basic safety precautions including use of caustic and toxic chemicals, methods of lifting heavy objects, and safe work clothing and coverings
Willingness to perform repetitive tasks - takes pride in doing a good job
Aptitude to learn from verbal instructions by listening and asking questions
Able to learn, function, and use standard cleaning implements and tools
Pleasant, welcoming behavior and attitude toward public, co-workers, students, faculty, staff, etc.
Able to read work instructions and schedules; warning signs and instructions for operation and care of equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior cleaning experience
Team cleaning experience
