Job Description
The Finance Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end finance operations environment, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial records while maintaining strong governance, internal controls, and stakeholder confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations Oversight
Manage bank and cash, GL, accounts payable, fixed assets, accruals and provisions
Ensure timely and accurate execution of BAU finance processes
Bank & Cash Management
Daily bank reconciliations and clearing of reconciling items
Strong controls over payments and cash handling
General Ledger & Financial Integrity
Maintain GL health, monitor control and suspense accounts
Ensure monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Insurance-Specific Finance Functions
Oversee claims paid, salvage, and recoveries accounting
Ensure proper cut-off and accuracy
Accounts Payable & Supplier Governance
Ensure accurate invoice processing and supplier compliance
Fixed Assets Management
Maintain asset register and depreciation
Accruals & Financial Close
Ensure completeness of accruals and timely close
Governance, Controls & Compliance
Maintain strong internal control environment
Ensure DOA compliance and approval governance
Audit Liaison
Manage internal and external audit processes
Stakeholder Management
Engage business units and provide financial insights
Continuous Improvement
Drive process improvement and automation
Approvals, Governance & Internal Controls
Enforce approval frameworks for journals, payments, and adjustments
Ensure segregation of duties and strong control design
Monitor compliance with IFRS and internal policies
Qualifications & Experience
BCom essential
Postgraduate Qualification or CA(SA) advantageous
5+ years finance operations experience
Success Measures
Clean audit outcomes
Strong reconciliations and controls discipline
Reduced unreconciled balances
Timeous turnaround for stakeholder matters
The Recruitment Process:
TA Interview: This will be a discussion with our Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist to give you an understanding of our business, our culture & values and more context on the role. It will also allow us the opportunity to get to know you more and ensure OMI can meet your career aspirations.
Panel Interview: This will be with 2 members of the Senior Leadership of the Hiring Team and 1 member of the HC Leadership Team.
Technical & Psychometric Assessments: These will depend on the role and will sometimes happen concurrently with Vetting through an external service provider & Internal Verification.
