Field Support Engineer

Purpose of employment

The role of the Field Support Engineer is to provide excellent assistance to the company, subcontractors and client through performing/overseeing engineering and technical support, training, preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections and securing a high level of performance of the radars needs and performance. 

 

Prepares and carries out integration, commissioning, transfer, support and startup activities at the customer site.

 

Description of activities

Preparing for on-site interventions:

• Communicating with the client to obtain all the necessary information for the construction of intervention plans.
• Define intervention plans based on clients' technical requirements and determine the necessary resources (resources/tools/subcontractors).
• Ensure the availability of resources for the planned intervention schedules.
• Check the existence and validity of Prevention Plans on client sites, and alert the project manager if there is no prevention plan or if an update is needed.

 

Perform the intervention:

• Carry out a review of the client's system (current state assessment).
• Carry out the intervention plan in accordance with maintenance procedures and documents, according to contract requirements and regulatory  provisions (HSE).
• Coordinate the activities of other Thales employees.
• Coordinate the activities of the subcontractor(s).
• Ensure adherence to the planned schedule.
• Regularly inform the client and the Thales project team of the progress of the work.
• Perform the specific tests to verify the return to operation.
• Ensure the completeness of the implementation of the intervention plan and the compilation of evidence in relation to the requirements of the contract, and guarantee the traceability of the evidence.
• Return the system to the client.
• Write a concise report of the intervention.

 

Performs back-office activities

Participate in post-mission debriefing meetings

• Write detailed intervention reports as needed
• Analyze technical issues and contribute to the development of associated deliverables by participating in the technical issue lifecycle within the appropriate committees
• Contribute to updating maintenance documents and support databases

 

Requirements & Professional Experiences

• Bachelors Degree in Telecommunications/Electronics.
• Experience in Radar or Radio Technology and Maintenance will be a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Experience in the development and maintenance of systems integrating electronics/electrotechnics/mechanics.
• Excellent initiative, interpersonal and communication skills
• Autonomy, excellent verbal and written skills in English.
