The Opportunity

Join the Burlington location as a Health & Safety Specialist , supporting health and safety programs, compliance initiatives, and departmental operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized professional to coordinate HSE activities, manage reporting and data, and contribute to a safe and compliant workplace.

What you will do:

  • Program Management Support the Manager, HSE Programs with the department’s strategy to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

  • Support the development of Standard Operating Procedures, tools, or other documentation reflective of regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate other HSE initiatives including communication and supporting implementation.

  • Creating, editing, and distributing professional HSE communications to internal stakeholders.

  • Develop HSE engagement content including letters, memos, reports, and presentation material.

  • Maintain current knowledge of provincial legislation relating to Employment Standards, Human Rights, Workplace Health & Safety, and Labour laws.

  • Administrative Support Coordinate and provide administrative support to the HSE Department.

  • Assist the HSE Manager with administering occupational claims with the Worker’s Compensation Boards.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and other departments to ensure departmental expenditures and invoices are submitted and paid.

  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, minutes, and relevant supporting materials.

  • Schedule and coordinate departmental meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.

  • Systems & Data Coordination Maintain the HSE Department’s internal systems and applications to ensure information is accurate and relevant to ensure effective data analysis.

  • Reviewing monthly incident statistics and reporting for internal HSE metrics and reporting.

  • Maintain and update data of HSE software and applications for data analysis.

  • Content management of HSE information on intranet sites which includes editing/creating pages, updating HSE content on a weekly basis and uploading documents.

  • Manage department Outlook inboxes and filter questions received to relevant HSE team members.

What you will bring:

  • Post Secondary education in Health & Safety, Business or related field, or the equivalent work experience within an Occupational Health & Safety Department.

  • A minimum of two (2) to five (5) years work experience in a similar role or with similar responsibilities. Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Multitasking, prioritizing and time management skills are essential for success in this role.

  • Experience and composure working within a fast-paced work environment.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent format.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong computer skills including intermediate to senior level in MS applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Publisher.

  • Proficient in using various web-based software and applications.

  • Commitment to continual learning.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting regulatory standards.

  • High attention to detail and timelines.

  • Ability to effectively plan and organize work.

  • Preference will be given to bilingual candidates.

Base Salary: $65,000 to $80,000
