Description
This position works 18 hours per week and is primarily scheduled nights and weekends.- Working knowledge of library classification systems.
- Working knowledge of the rules and procedures of the library.
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to sort and file alphabetically and numerically.
- Ability to read numbers and letters rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Ability to read and write information relevant to performing the work.
Ability to lift 10-25 lbs. frequently or up to 10 lbs. constantly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
This position has been identified to interact with children and must comply with NC G.S. 153A-94.2(b) “requires an applicant for employment to work with children in any capacity,must require the applicant, if offered the position, to be subject to a criminal history record check conducted by the SBI.” These checks must be conducted in accordance with G.S. 143B-1209.26, the statute which authorizes the SBI to provide a fingerprint-based state and national criminal record check to cities and counties.
Library Pages are primarily responsible for shelving and merchandising books and audio-visual materials. Additional duties include maintaining the order of the library's collections which includes regular shelf reading and assistance in weeding materials.
