Description

Working hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday As a Senior Legal Counsel within our Competition & Regulatory Legal team, you'll play a pivotal role in helping shape strategic business decisions, guiding leaders through complex legal and regulatory matters, and supporting the success of a business that is building for the future. In this role, you'll be a trusted adviser and collaborative partner, helping the business navigate competition law and regulatory challenges with confidence. You'll work closely with senior leaders across the organisation, providing practical, commercially focused guidance that enables innovation while managing risk. Your expertise will help shape major strategic initiatives, influence business decisions, and ensure we continue to operate responsibly in a dynamic and evolving market. You'll provide expert competition law advice across the business, including to senior leadership teams and Board-level stakeholders. You'll support strategic projects, commercial initiatives and transactions, including mergers, joint ventures, wholesale agreements, commercial collaborations and network-sharing arrangements. You'll help design, develop and enhance our competition law compliance programme, ensuring it remains effective and practical. You'll deliver clear, risk-based legal advice on product development, pricing strategies, customer propositions, commercial activities and market opportunities. You'll advise on regulatory frameworks and obligations where competition law considerations arise, including policy development, regulatory disputes and litigation matters. You'll support engagement with regulatory and competition authorities, including Ofcom, the CMA and other relevant bodies. You'll contribute to competition law investigations, regulatory enquiries, information requests and other contentious matters as needed. You'll develop and deliver engaging training and awareness initiatives that strengthen competition law understanding across the organisation. You'll build trusted relationships with colleagues and stakeholders from diverse functions and levels across the business. You'll monitor developments in competition law, regulatory policy and market practices, providing proactive insight into emerging risks and opportunities. You'll help balance commercial ambitions with legal and regulatory responsibilities, supporting business growth in a practical and solutions-focused way. You'll be a qualified lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, Chartered Legal Executive or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience gained in private practice, an in-house environment, or both. You'll bring strong technical expertise in relevant areas of law, particularly competition and regulatory matters. You'll have experience advising on significant transactions and complex commercial arrangements. You'll be confident identifying, assessing and communicating legal and commercial risks to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior executives. You'll combine strategic thinking with practical judgement, helping others find balanced and effective solutions. You'll have excellent drafting skills and will be able to prepare both straightforward and complex legal documentation with minimal supervision. You'll demonstrate strong negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills. You'll be comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and will be motivated to broaden your expertise into new areas of practice. You'll hold a university honours degree (second class or above) or an equivalent higher education qualification. You'll communicate clearly and effectively, tailoring your advice to different audiences and delivering guidance that is concise, logical and actionable. You'll be naturally curious, thoughtful and proactive, with a desire to understand business objectives and contribute to broader strategic goals. You'll thrive in a collaborative environment where diverse perspectives are valued and where shared success is achieved through partnership and mutual respect. You'll bring a dedicated, solutions-focused approach and a strong understanding of commercial realities alongside legal excellence. You'll enjoy building meaningful relationships across the organisation and working together to achieve positive outcomes for customers, colleagues and the business.
