Role Summary
As part of Pfizer Germany's Strategic Roadmap 2030, Therapeutic Area Value Max will serve as a dedicated strategic growth pillar focused on maximizing patient, healthcare-system and business value across prioritized in-market assets. Medical Affairs will act as a strategic partner to the Therapeutic Area by providing scientific leadership, medical governance, stakeholder engagement, insight generation, scientific communication and cross-functional partnership.
While commercial success is measured through revenue growth and business performance, the success of Medical Affairs within Value Max is reflected in credible scientific partnership, high-quality medical communication, trusted stakeholder relationships, actionable insights, effective lifecycle support and the ability to enable informed, compliant and patient-centered decisions. This role combines scientific credibility, strategic business partnering, organizational leadership, change management and external engagement to strengthen Medical Affairs contribution to value maximization across the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Ecosystem & Scientific Leadership
- Contribute to the multi-year Medical Affairs strategy for Therapeutic Area Value Max in Germany, aligned with Strategic Roadmap 2030, country medical priorities, portfolio lifecycle objectives and cross-functional value-maximization ambitions.
- Position Medical Affairs as a trusted strategic partner for healthcare professionals, scientific experts, payers, policy stakeholders and cross-functional Pfizer teams, and help shape a compelling medical value narrative while maintaining medical independence and scientific integrity.
- Build trusted partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem — HCPs, KOLs, patient organizations, professional societies, payers, policy stakeholders, digital-health partners and academic networks — and use systematic medical insight generation to translate stakeholder needs and care-pathway gaps into actionable Medical Affairs priorities.
- Help shape the Medical Affairs plan for Therapeutic Area Value Max, lead high-quality scientific communication and medical education, and turn medical insights into prioritized actions that enhance stakeholder value and lifecycle impact.
Lifecycle Excellence, Cross-functional Leadership & AI
- Support medical lifecycle readiness across prioritized Value Max assets, including mature brands and indication opportunities, enabling scientific differentiation and sustainable asset value through insight-driven prioritization.
- Partner with Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Public Affairs, Health & Value and other cross-functional, global and international stakeholders to enable integrated Value Max execution while upholding scientific integrity and non-promotional boundaries.
- Champion the transformation of Medical Affairs toward an AI-enabled, insight-driven organization, serving as a role model for AI fluency, scientific judgement, human oversight and responsible data stewardship.
- Ensure all Medical Affairs activities comply with country-specific legal, regulatory and Pfizer policy parameters, upholding the highest standards of scientific integrity, ethical conduct, pharmacovigilance and medical governance.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in Medical Affairs leadership within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry; broad Medical Affairs experience across therapeutic areas, lifecycle management, stakeholder engagement, medical strategy or portfolio value maximization strongly preferred.
- Proven track record in scientific communication, stakeholder engagement, cross-functional leadership, launch or lifecycle excellence and medical strategy execution.
- Medical degree, pharmacy degree, PhD or equivalent advanced scientific qualification required; clinical and broad product experience highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of medical governance, clinical data interpretation, value communication, healthcare systems, regulatory environments and stakeholder needs across the product lifecycle.
- Fluent business and medical English; German (native or C1-level) mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience navigating healthcare policy, reimbursement systems, scientific societies, payer perspectives and healthcare-system stakeholders in Germany.
- Market Access experience highly desirable.
- Experience supporting cross-functional business priorities with medical expertise, compliant scientific narratives and strategic stakeholder engagement.
- Comfort with digital and AI-enabled ways of working; ability to critically appraise AI-generated output for scientific accuracy, bias and appropriate use in a regulated medical context.
