What you will have an opportunity to do:
The Director of Finance is a strategic business partner and member of the hotel's Executive Leadership Team responsible for directing all financial operations of the Arcadian Hotel. This leader ensures the integrity of financial reporting, safeguards hotel assets, drives profitability, and provides financial insight to support operational and commercial decision-making.
The Director of Finance oversees all accounting functions, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, payroll oversight, internal controls, compliance, and financial analysis while partnering closely with the General Manager and department leaders to maximize revenue, control expenses, and achieve ownership objectives.
Essential Responsibilities
Serve as the hotel's senior financial executive and trusted advisor to the General Manager.
- Develop and execute annual operating budgets, capital budgets, and long-range financial plans.
- Produce accurate monthly financial statements and ownership reports in accordance with US GAAP and company standards.
- Lead monthly forecasting and variance analysis, identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
- Present financial performance and recommendations during Executive Committee and ownership meetings.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and timely.
- Manage annual external audits and tax compliance activities.
- Analyze financial trends, labor productivity, departmental expenses, and operating metrics.
- Partner with department leaders to improve operating efficiencies and profitability.
- Provide financial modeling and ROI analysis for capital investments and operational initiatives.
- Monitor daily cash position and working capital.
- Manage banking relationships and cash forecasting.
- Oversee capital expenditures and fixed asset accounting.
- Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and contract approvals.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop the Accounting team.
- Establish performance expectations and conduct coaching and evaluations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Build strong partnerships across all hotel departments.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain adherence to company accounting policies and audit standards.
- Support annual insurance, tax, and ownership reporting requirements.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
- 5–8+ years of progressive hotel accounting leadership experience.
- Previous experience as a Director of Finance, Assistant Director of Finance, or Controller within a full-service hotel preferred.
- Experience with hotel management systems such as M3, Workday, Sage Intacct, Great Plains, or similar accounting platforms.
- Experience with hotel PMS systems (Opera preferred).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of hotel operations, revenue management, labor management, and financial reporting.
