FNP

Description

The FNP assess the needs of patients using subjective and objective data, developing a comprehensive care plan tailored to each patient. This includes evaluating both acute and chronic conditions, coordinating care, and ensuring that patients receive the appropriate treatments and interventions. The goal is to improve patient outcomes by addressing their medical needs in a compassionate and effective manner.  

Description of Duties

• Evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic complaints in accordance with established practices and policies.

• Obtain complete medical histories and conduct clinical exams based on patient complaints. 

• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as necessary based on clinical history and examination. 

• Prescribe medications following written policies and obtain necessary countersignatures from the supervising physician. 

• Perform office procedures and diagnostic studies once competency has been verified. 

• Provide skilled nursing care for patients with a wide range of diagnoses and varying complexity. 

• Serve as an integral member of the healthcare team in providing patient and family health education.

• Ensure a safe, comfortable environment that promotes emotional and physical recovery for patients. 

• Recognize urgent situations requiring physician intervention and initiate life-saving measures when necessary. 

• Participate in health education and training programs for the community. 

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and the community from diverse backgrounds. 

• The primary site for service delivery will be the assigned clinic, but services may be provided at other locations as needed. 

• Perform additional duties as directed by physicians and the CEO, within the scope of practice. 

Requirements

Education Required 

• Current RN licensure and Nurse Practitioner Certification in Tennessee. 

• Active DEA number for prescribing controlled substances. 

• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited nursing organization (e.g., AANP, ANCC).

Experience and/or Skills Required 

• Ability to function independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

• Must be able to perform job functions safely and efficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Conditions and Physical Demands 

• Typical clinic or office environment. 

• May require lifting of objects exceeding 50 lbs., with frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs. 

• Walking/Standing: Escorting patients to exam rooms, laboratory, etc. 

• Sitting: During documentation and telephone tasks. 

• Lifting: Assisting patients onto exam tables and out of wheelchairs. 

• Bending/Crouching/Stooping: Filing, stocking, and supply management. 

• Must be able to respond to life-threatening emergencies, perform CPR, and assist with evacuations in emergency situations. 

• Ability to use computers, keyboards, and telephone systems effectively.
