About the Role

We are looking for a qualified Electrician to join the Maintenance team within a regulated manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, inspection and testing of electrical systems and equipment across manufacturing, utilities, laboratories, warehousing and facility infrastructure.

The role requires a hands-on artisan who can ensure the safe, reliable and compliant operation of electrical distribution systems, motor control centres, electrical panels, drives, instrumentation, HVAC electrical systems, generators, compressors, purified water systems and other critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Systems Maintenance

• Operate, inspect and maintain electrical infrastructure, switchgear, MCCs, motors, drives and control panels.
• Conduct routine electrical inspections and monitor equipment condition.
• Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records.
• Perform electrical fault finding and diagnostics.
• Maintain electrical distribution and control systems.
• Support PLC, HMI, instrumentation and control systems.

Preventative & Predictive Maintenance

• Execute preventative and predictive maintenance according to approved schedules.
• Inspect electrical equipment and identify deterioration or potential failures.
• Replace worn or defective electrical components.
• Maintain equipment in a safe, reliable and operational condition.
• Update maintenance documentation and records following completed work.

Breakdown Maintenance & Repairs

• Respond to electrical and equipment breakdowns.
• Diagnose faults and perform appropriate repairs.
• Conduct root cause analysis on recurring or significant failures.
• Implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Minimise equipment downtime and production interruptions.
• Support production requirements and shift patterns where required.

Utilities & Facility Infrastructure

• Maintain electrical systems associated with HVAC systems and chillers.
• Support compressors and compressed-air systems.
• Maintain electrical components associated with purified water and water-treatment systems.
• Maintain generators, UPS and emergency power systems.
• Support electrical systems across manufacturing and facility infrastructure.

Compliance, GMP & Quality

• Ensure compliance with GMP requirements, SOPs and engineering standards.
• Work in accordance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Support calibration and validation activities where required.
• Complete maintenance and engineering documentation accurately.
• Support regulatory and quality audits.
• Ensure equipment remains in an appropriate operational and validated state.

Spare Parts & Asset Management

• Assist with the management of critical electrical spare parts.
• Ensure the correct use and care of tools and equipment.
• Identify and recommend stock replenishment requirements.
• Support effective equipment and asset-management practices.

Energy & Cost Optimisation

• Monitor utility consumption and operating efficiencies.
• Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency.
• Assist with reducing utility losses and wastage.
• Support sustainability and cost-reduction initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

• Participate in maintenance and engineering continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
• Recommend appropriate equipment upgrades and technical improvements.
• Support engineering projects.
• Assist with the installation, commissioning and qualification of new equipment.

Minimum Requirements

• N4 Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Trade Test Certificate – Electrician.
• Minimum 3–5 years' relevant electrical maintenance experience.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic experience.
• Experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with electrical installations and distribution systems.
• Experience with motors, drives, starters and MCCs.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance.
• Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Highly Advantageous

• N5 or N6 Electrical Engineering qualification.
• Wireman's Licence.
• PLC training and hands-on PLC/HMI experience.
• GMP training.
• Experience within pharmaceutical, FMCG, food or another regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience in GMP-regulated facilities.
• Experience with calibration and validation support.
• HVAC electrical controls.
• Instrumentation and control systems.
• Generators and UPS systems.
• Compressed-air systems.
• Purified water and water-treatment systems.
• CMMS experience.
• Root Cause Analysis and CAPA experience.
• Commissioning and qualification experience.
