Job Description

The role of Mission Systems Scheduler supports the Contract for Organizing Spaceflight Mission Operations and Systems (COSMOS) which is NASA’s next-generation mission operations contract located on-site at Johnson Space Center. COSMOS ensures the continuity of critical human spaceflight support by providing mission control services, advanced training systems, and full-scale spacecraft mockups for astronaut preparation and engineering analysis. The Mission Systems Scheduling Team ensures the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) has the facility, systems, and console resources required to execute Human Spaceflight operations and training by delivering accurate schedules, coordinated interfaces, and disciplined planning processes that keep ISS, Commercial Crew, Artemis, simulation, testing, and development activities aligned with NASA Human Spaceflight objectives.

 

Description of Duties

The Mission Systems Scheduler operates at the center of daily planning for the Mission Control Center (MCC) and Mission Training Center (MTC). Their work translates Flight Controller real-time mission and training milestones into resource‑backed mission system schedules by coordinating facility availability, external interfaces, and console allocation so program, project, and training elements have the support they need to execute against defined timelines. They maintain the weekly schedules for MCC and MTC; manage ad hoc user requests; lead scheduling‑related meetings; and establish the procedures that keep planning consistent across the mission system activities.

 

Successful candidates will:

• Develops and maintains weekly facility schedules for the MCC, TS and SVMF facilities.

• Coordinates which facilities resources and external interfaces required to support mission requirements, network tests, simulations and development users.

•  Support/conduct facility scheduling related meetings.

• Present MCC schedules at the Daily Operations Meeting (DOM)

• Manage/schedule Flight Controller Consoles

• Manage/incorporate MCC Work Plan requests into mission and training schedules

• Provide facility user scheduling assistance and problem resolution.

• Develop and maintain scheduling procedures.

• Provide data entry support of facility projection and utilization data.

• Provide utilization data and generate reports /metrics.

• Generate and deliver schedules to appropriate disciplines.

• Support other related duties as required.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with FOD FOX Integrators to support program needs

 

Job Requirements

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 5 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 2 years of general experience; Bachelor’s/Master’s degree and no experience.

• Ability to incorporate multiple data inputs in one schedule

• Ability to resolve complex scheduling conflicts

• Experience with Office 365 Tools

 

Desired Requirements

•  Knowledge of ServiceNow, FOX, and facility schedules

•  Possesses strong team-building skills across multi-functional areas that establish a collaborative operational structure including active listening, prompt service and follow-up

• Exhibits proven track record of working under tight deadlines

• High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently

• Learn and understand the ServiceNow and FOX tools, including testing new features, report development and training.

• Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government and contractor personnel at all levels.

 

This position is expected to pay $75k - $95k annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Final compensation is determined through a comprehensive evaluation of several key factors, including the candidate’s educational background, specialized technical expertise, and relevant professional experience. We also consider internal equity, prevailing market data, and specific contractual or funding requirements to ensure competitive and equitable offer alignment.

       

Compensation Details:

Salary starts at $85k. Final pay will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
