This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.It’s a great time to join Team Blue! We are building a road to space for the benefit of Earth, humanity’s blue origin. Our company builds reusable rocket engines, launch vehicles, in-space systems, and lunar landers.
Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Senior Social Media Sr Manager to build upon, nurture, and expand our social media engagement with our customers and the millions of incredible space enthusiasts. This individual contributor role is responsible for the strategy, execution, and daily management of our Blue Origin and Club for the Future platforms. This includes engaging and growing our followers, social media influencers, employees, customers, and media to continue advocating our vision of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth while growing the brand and generating sales. Real-time performance data, analysis, and actionable insights are also key to this role.
The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of social media platforms, trends, and usage behaviors. You have proven expertise in developing and executing effective social media campaigns to drive awareness, engagement, and reputation (and crisis) management. This is an individual contributor role, and you will be hands-on and working closely with our creative, digital marketing, and public relations team, and reporting to the Vice President of the Marketing and Communications organization.
By the way, you’re not only a social media expert, but also a world-class writer and copy editor, team player, data-driven, and a great communicator at all levels of an organization. As a modern-day multimedia correspondent, you can expertly tell and deliver stories and content.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies across platforms (inclusive of X, IG, LinkedIn, YouTube and others) while understanding our customer base and segmentation including B2G, B2B, and B2C audiences.
Propose and help create compelling content including posts, videos, graphics, and other multimedia elements to share Blue Origin and Club for the Future’s mission and milestones.
Manage social media channels on a day-to-day basis, including scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, identifying opportunities and issues, and managing inquiries and comments.
Partner closely with the larger Marketing, Sales, Communications, and Public Relations teams to ensure alignment of messaging and consistency of brand voice.
Be a “doer” and “owner” who can manage disparate stakeholders and opinions – while being able to think big and invent new ways to tell Blue’s story.
Monitor social media trends, analyze and benchmark performance metrics, and generate recommendations to evaluate and accelerate campaign effectiveness and paths forward.
Stay informed about industry developments, competitor activities, and emerging social media trends and platforms.
Stay up-to-date with best practices, guidelines, and regulations and Blue Origin policies.
Produce thoughtful and clear writing narratives that deliver “defect-free” content in a high-velocity, always-on environment. Attention to detail and no unforced errors – this candidate will help manage our brand and reputation and must show high judgment under tight deadlines and confidentiality.
Work day-to-day with various external vendors, customers, and partners, including photographers and video production teams in a way that optimizes results and drives down budget.
Minimum Qualifications
This is an on-site and in-office position, with occasional travel. The preferred office location is at Rocket Park in Merritt Island, FL.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Sales Excellence or Journalism highly preferred.
8+ years of experience in social media management, preferably in the aerospace, technology, or related industry.
Strong understanding and previous usage of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
Expert – world-class – writing and editing skills. A detailed, thoughtful, and clear narrative writer that delivers “defect-free” content.
Demonstrated ability to create engaging content and execute effective social media strategies
Proven proficiency in social media management tools and analytic platforms.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Working in the space industry is often interrupt-driven with rapidly changing priorities, opportunities, and crises.
Team player with a collaborative, can-do, and yet humble mindset that is results-driven.
Familiarity with the latest trends in AI and digital marketing and related usage models.
A passion for space exploration and commitment to Blue Origin's mission to benefit Earth along with a thirst to constantly seek and learn about cutting-edge industry trends and tools.
