Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Structural Engineer with strong experience in the exhibition, events, temporary structures, and fabrication industry.
The candidate will be responsible for the structural design, engineering calculations, technical drawings, site inspections, and structural safety of exhibition stands, event structures, stages, arches, platforms, towers, pavilions, signage structures, and other temporary installations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review structural designs, drawings, and engineering calculations for temporary and exhibition structures.
- Design and verify structures made from steel, aluminium, timber, MDF, and other construction materials.
- Perform calculations for dead loads, live loads, wind loads, stability, deflection, and structural capacity.
- Review shop drawings and ensure designs comply with approved structural requirements.
- Check structural connections, supports, anchoring, bracing, base plates, and fixing details.
- Provide practical engineering solutions to support the fabrication and installation teams.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Designers, Draftsmen, Fabricators, Carpenters, and Site Supervisors.
- Conduct site inspections during installation, modification, and dismantling of structures.
- Verify that the structure is installed according to approved drawings and calculations.
- Identify structural risks and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Review proposed site modifications and confirm their structural suitability.
- Prepare structural calculation reports, technical submissions, and certification documents where required.
- Coordinate with consultants, venues, contractors, and relevant authorities for structural approvals.
- Ensure compliance with applicable UAE regulations, venue requirements, engineering standards, and HSE requirements.
- Support the preparation of method statements and risk assessments for structural works.
- Provide technical guidance to fabrication and installation teams.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and within the required schedule.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in exhibition stands, events, temporary structures, fabrication, or interior fit-out.
- Strong knowledge of structural design and engineering principles.
- Experience with steel and aluminium structures is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and prepare structural/shop drawings.
- Good knowledge of structural connections, anchoring, bracing, and load calculations.
- Knowledge of UAE construction and temporary-structure requirements.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced event environment.
- Willingness to attend site inspections, night installations, weekends, and event build-ups when required.
- UAE experience and knowledge of major exhibition venues will be an advantage.
