Summary

Reports directly to Corporate Director of Supply Operations for a $1.4 billion in revenue and 8,000 employee organization. Responsible for managing system-wide Procurement operational activity of $500 million in purchases. Ensure all operational purchasing activity focuses on keeping customers and patients first and developing process to assure excellence in performance to goals. Responsible for $70 million in spend and developing Category Management strategy to significantly reduce the total cost of ownership Purchased Services. Accountable for risk mitigation and financial integrity related to Purchased Services functions/actions performed. This is a “Mission Critical” role for Supply Chain to ensure that hospital operations run smoothly.

Major Job Functions

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job.  The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below.  In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:

• Facilitate definition, development and execution of system-wide Procurement Operations strategy

• Promote best practices and operational excellence within Procurement and supports Category Strategies

• Direct total procurement transactions, i.e. facilitate requisitioning, sourcing, evidence-based product research, negotiations, order execution, supplier relationship building and facilitate supplier payment

• Develop and manage Purchasing team with appropriate skills and knowledge to meet goals and expectations

• Participate in achieving overall cost reductions established by Supply Chain

• Participate and support Cape Fear Valley risk management objectives set by Supply Chain

• Collaborate with all Supply Chain leaders to provide a congruent, best practice Supply Chain Model

• Attend regular hospital operations team meetings to provide Supply Chain updates and progress vs. plan information

• Meet with Executive Leadership teams on quarterly basis to update them on progress to strategic direction

• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Education and Formal Training: 

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management, required

Work Experience: 

• 10 years Supply Chain experience OR 10 years requisition to pay type experience required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: 

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language

• Proven track record of delivering results in positions of significant responsibility and authority

• Excellent skills in leading cross-business and cross-functional teams to deliver results 

• Demonstrate integrity and is viewed by internal stakeholders & suppliers as trustworthy and credible

Physical Requirements: 

• Frequent handling of records, printed matter and correspondence and data processing equipment

• Communicating with vendors, department directors and vice presidents
