Mechanical Design - Senior Engineer

## What you’ll do:

As a Senior Engineer Mechanical Design, you provide experienced mechanical engineering support for the development, improvement and maintenance of electromechanical products, components and platforms (e.g. breakers, contactors, motorstarters). The role combines mechanical design, technical documentation, product validation and technical coordination across new product development, platform, innovation, pre-launch and product line support activities. You lead selected technical work packages or smaller development projects, guide design decisions and support less experienced colleagues while collaborating with cross-functional and international teams to deliver robust, cost-effective and manufacturable solutions in accordance with applicable standards, quality requirements and internal processes.

• Develop and optimize complex mechanical components, assemblies and devices based on functional and system requirements (e.g. breakers, contactors, motorstarters)
• Electro-Mechanical Engineering and detailed design, including material selection of metal and plastic parts
• Preparation of parts lists, assembly drawings, checklists, technical documentation
• Ordering and preparation of samples and prototypes
• Contributing on individual sustaining activities with focus on the engineering part and providing technical product and platform documentation
• Assistance on maintaining conformity to standards on dedicated products
• Provision and implementation of product optimizations, e.g., representing manufacturing process improvements and cost-outs
• Driving (technical) cost saving activities and projects and provide related development activities
• Technical input to customer documentation
• Consideration of environmental and ecological aspects during the development process (RoHS, Reach)
• Carrying out document release, change and deletion process including apporver role
• Mentoring less senior colleagues
• Leading technical root cause analyses, problem solving sessions and design reviews
• Providing technical presentations
• Contributing of effort estimations for technical work packages

## Qualifications:

• Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering
• Typically at least five years of relevant experience in mechanical design, product engineering or development of electromechanical products

## Skills:

• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical design principles and their application at component, assembly and device level for electromechanical products (e.g. breakers, contactors, motorstarters)
• Advanced experience with 3D CAD and drawing creation; Creo Modeling, Siemens NX or a comparable system is beneficial.
• Experience with product data, configuration and change management using PLM/PDM and ERP systems; Enovia, Model Manager, SAP or comparable tools are beneficial
• Sound understanding of manufacturing processes for metal and plastic components
• Ability to interpret and align technical requirements, standards, test results and product compliance needs.
• Experience in structured product development and phase-gate processes.
• Knowledge of design quality methods such as Design for Six Sigma
• Experience in technical root-cause analysis, design reviews, validation planning and engineering decision-making
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills; ability to lead technical activities and smaller projectss
• Sound planning, prioritization and organizational ability
• Confidence working across functions and international locations
• Ownership and attention to detail; ability to balance quality, cost and schedule considerations
• Fluent English for collaboration and technical documentation
