Maintenance Planner

About the Role
As a Maintenance Planner at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in improving preventive maintenance programs, enhancing work order planning, and increasing equipment reliability. This position requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent coordination skills, and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to maintenance efficiency, process improvements, and plant safety.

You will collaborate with maintenance leads, production teams, and operations leadership, ensuring that maintenance activities are properly planned, tracked, and optimized using tools like SAP. This is a full-time and will be located in Kansas City, MO.

What You’ll Do

• Analyzes maintenance methods and implements improvements to the preventive maintenance program

• Tracks and trends KPIs related to equipment reliability, planning efficiency, and department performance

• Establishes and improves planning, scheduling, stores, and data management processes to optimize maintenance resources

• Collaborates with operations and maintenance teams to prioritize backlogs and align schedules with plant priorities

• Creates, formats, and enters job task lists and maintenance plans into SAP

• Maintains accurate equipment maintenance history and technical documentation for processes and equipment

• Prepares daily maintenance schedules and work packets, including tasks, routes, and non-emergency repairs

• Ensures accurate completion and timely return of all work orders by maintenance staff and contractors

• Prepares maintenance outage schedules using project management software

• Leads daily maintenance planning and work review meetings

• Monitors all parts sent out for repair and manages return logistics

Who You Are

• 3+ years of multi-craft industrial maintenance experience, including SAP usage

• High school diploma or GED required

• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including functions like pivot tables and conditional formulas

• Working knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance processes

• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills

• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities

• Detail-oriented with a dependable and professional work ethic

• Basic math proficiency and ability to read measuring devices and technical documentation
