Description

Purpose and Job Summary:

The Insurance Compliance Senior Associate is responsible for overseeing complex insurance compliance activities across a commercial loan servicing portfolio, while serving as a key resource for team guidance, quality assurance, and process execution. This role ensures borrower insurance coverage meets investor, regulatory, and servicing requirements, and plays an active role in mitigating risk through proactive review, remediation, and escalation of non-compliance. In addition to individual production responsibilities, the Senior Associate provides leadership support by coaching junior team members, enhancing processes, and contributing to operational and strategic initiatives. This position requires advanced technical expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, timeliness, and collaboration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all Insurance Compliance Associate-level responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and independence
  • Conduct complex insurance policy compliance reviews and assess risk exposure across a portfolio of commercial loans
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of team output and vendor-delivered work, providing actionable feedback and identifying training gaps
  • Lead and coordinate remediation of non-compliant insurance items, working directly with borrowers, insurance brokers, and agents to resolve issues
  • Manage vendor relationships and support workflow coordination to maintain service level expectations
  • Monitor and prioritize team and individual workloads to ensure deadlines and renewal timelines are consistently met
  • Escalate high-risk or complex compliance issues to management with clear recommendations for resolution
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on insurance requirements, including investor-specific guidelines (e.g., Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA, and other applicable programs)
  • Draft and review complex waiver and exception requests with minimal oversight
  • Lead or support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of policies, procedures, and team resources
  • Train, coach, and mentor junior team members to ensure consistency, accuracy, and professional development
  • Participate in and contribute to departmental initiatives, cross-functional projects, and industry-related committees or working groups
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support implementation of approved enhancements
  • Assist with audit readiness activities, including preparing documentation, reviewing data samples, and supporting audit responses
  • Maintain accountability for individual and team deliverables, ensuring alignment with servicing standards and performance expectations
  • Execute lender-placed insurance and remediation strategies to address coverage deficiencies and protect the lender’s collateral position
  • Manage specialized loan portfolios (e.g., pre-securitized or investor-specific loans) and support required reporting and deliverables
  • Perform additional duties and strategic projects, as assigned
  • Travel Requirements - 10%

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
  • 4–6 years of experience in commercial insurance, loan servicing, or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of insurance coverages including Property, General Liability, Auto, Crime, Flood, Wind/Named Storm, and Earthquake
  • Strong understanding of commercial servicing insurance requirements and investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA/HUD, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to independently assess risk, identify compliance gaps, and drive remediation with minimal oversight
  • Proven experience mentoring or training team members and contributing to team performance development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with servicing platforms and insurance tracking systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven workloads
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex insurance concepts into clear guidance
  • Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal effectiveness across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in decision-making
  • High degree of adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Emotional intelligence and the ability to influence outcomes while maintaining strong working relationships
  • Solution-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency
