Insurance Risk - Senior Associate

Capital One’s Agency Finance Team is seeking an organized, proactive, and adaptable Insurance Operations - Senior Associate to join our team. This role is essential to managing core operational workflows, ensuring loan compliance, and maintaining seamless insurance coverage and escrow servicing across our commercial real estate portfolio.

The ideal candidate brings foundational knowledge in commercial insurance or mortgage servicing, pairs strong critical thinking with acute attention to detail, and thrives in a collaborative environment where cross-training and flexibility are highly valued.

Responsibilities:

• Coverage Compliance & Maintenance: Collect and review insurance certificates and proof of payment to update servicing systems; identify coverage lapses, remediate cancellation notices, and escalate files for lender placement as needed.
• Escrow & Financial Processing: Perform detailed escrow reviews to ensure accurate records reconcile with premiums paid, collect and process premium invoices and reimbursements, and coordinate with multiple internal stakeholders to process payments and confirm escrow accuracy.
• Portfolio & Securitization Monitoring: Monitor securitization workflows and maintain accurate, up-to-date records across multiple internal and external software systems.
• Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination: Maintain the group mailbox, communicate basic insurance requirements to borrowers and agents, and evaluate vendor escalations to determine appropriate next steps.
• Audit Preparation: Compile, organize, and validate required documentation for internal and external audit reviews.
• Process Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to streamline workflows, increase internal controls, and improve departmental efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Analytical Rigor: The ability to assess risk beyond a basic checklist, understanding the "why" behind processes and workflow, to evaluate broader impacts.
• Operational Flexibility: Flex to cover multiple positions within the group as operational demands shift, demonstrating a strong aptitude to learn new subject areas quickly.
• Exceptional Communication: Strong professional correspondence skills and the ability to write technical justifications that are clear, persuasive, and concise.
• Accountability: A proven track record of working independently, managing a high-volume, and meeting deadlines.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
• At least 2 years of Commercial Banking or Loan Operations experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
• 4+ years of Commercial Bank Operations, Loan Servicing, Risk, Compliance or Government Sponsored Entities (GSE) experience
• 4+ years of experience working with Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac (GSE) Multifamily Loans

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Charlotte, NC: $80,800 - $92,200 for Sr. Agency Ops Associate

 

McLean, VA: $88,800 - $101,300 for Sr. Agency Ops Associate

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
