- Manage NJHMFA submissions through the Mitas Property Portal, including annual certifications, tenant reporting, vacancy reporting, and required documentation.
- Conduct routine file audits and property visits to ensure compliance with regulatory, investor, and company requirements.
- Identify compliance issues, develop corrective action plans, and resolve audit findings within required deadlines.
- Maintain accurate compliance records, property summaries, regulatory agreements, and reporting systems in Yardi and related platforms.
- Train and support property managers, assistant property managers, leasing teams, and compliance staff on certifications, documentation, and regulatory changes.
- Support new property transitions and lease-ups by establishing compliance systems, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Help lead the implementation of online recertifications through Rent Café.
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in affordable housing compliance, with LIHTC / Section 42 tax credit experience required.
- Experience in a Compliance Officer or equivalent affordable housing compliance role strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of NJHMFA, HUD, HOME, 811, PHA/ACC, Fair Housing, and layered subsidy programs.
- Strong understanding of tenant certifications, recertifications, income and rent restrictions, file audits, and regulatory reporting.
- Proficiency in Yardi required; experience with Mitas and Rent Café is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with property management teams and regulatory agencies.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and willingness to travel to properties throughout New Jersey approximately four times per month.
- HCCP, TCS, COS, or equivalent affordable housing certification preferred. Certification support is available for qualified employees.
