The Sales Specialist – Proposals is responsible for developing high-quality commercial proposals, tenders, and bid submissions that support business growth and strategic customer engagement. This role combines technical expertise, commercial acumen, and project management skills to create competitive solutions tailored to customer requirements.
Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, customers, and business leaders, the Sales Specialist manages complex commercial processes involving technical, economic, logistical, and financial considerations. The role ensures that proposals are commercially sound, compliant with customer requirements, and aligned with Baker Hughes' business objectives.
As a Sales Specialist – Proposals, you will be responsible for:
- Developing proposals, commercial submissions, and mega-tenders to support business growth opportunities.
- Ensuring commercial deals deliver shareholder value while maintaining competitive pricing strategies.
- Preparing materials and supporting bid reviews, customer presentations, and commercial discussions.
- Compiling, coordinating, and submitting required tender documentation in accordance with customer requirements and deadlines.
- Managing products and systems that require a strong technical understanding and knowledge of customer operating environments.
- Conducting technical and commercial analyses to adapt sales strategies and offerings to specific client conditions.
- Managing complex commercial processes that involve multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluating technical, economic, logistical, and financial requirements when developing proposals.
- Supporting commercial activities for National Oil Companies (NOCs) and International Oil Companies (IOCs) across the product line.
- Collaborating with sales, operations, engineering, finance, legal, and supply chain teams to develop winning commercial solutions.
- Driving continuous improvement in proposal development processes, tools, and commercial best practices.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Drilling Fluids or a related oilfield services environment.
- Have an additional 2 to 3 years of experience in proposal development, tender management, or commercial operations.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of commercial proposal development and tendering processes.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Have proven problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex commercial challenges.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead programs, projects, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Have experience in documenting, planning, marketing, and executing commercial programs.
- Possess established project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Be capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and customer-focused environment.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality commercial execution.
