Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.
Kettle Coordinator position is a short-term contract position. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign.

Accountabilities:

Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below:

• Attend training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.

• In partnership with local Corps, liaise as required and contact local businesses to arrange kettle locations;
• Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites;
• Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to Campaign onset;
• Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required;
• Supervise, support and assign (as required) volunteers throughout the Campaign;
• Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently;
• Promote Kettle campaign and respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs;
• Oversee the operations of the local Christmas Kettle campaign;
• Participate in recruitment of kettle volunteers;
• Coordinate the schedule for volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.
• Coordinate the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations; may deliver and pick-up kettles in an emergency situation;
• Host at a kettle as required ensuring necessary coverage for breaks, etc.;
• Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature etc;
• Record statistical data and prepare report at the end of the campaign, outlining highlights and recommendations for future campaign coordination;
• Coordinate retrieval of all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations at the end of the campaign;
• Perform other related duties as required.
  

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:

•     Responsible for solicitation and secure keeping of funds..

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• This is a temporary position.
• Flexibility in scheduling is required;  40 hour work week.
• Work environment is typically in malls/stores
• Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather
• Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
• Local travel is associated with this position.
  

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of the Salvation Army Kettle campaign
• Completion of Voluntary Sector management, Business Administration, or Public Relations an asset
• Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered.

 

  

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

• A minimum of two years of related experience or working in customer service.
• Money handling experience is an asset.
• Experience in office administration.
• Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL).

 

Skills and Capabilities:

• Valid Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
• Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting; attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs.
• Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.
• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
• Honest, courteous, and punctual; prepared to act in the best interest of employer.
• Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
• Attentive listening skills for supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.
• Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
  
  

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $19.09 to $23.87 with a maximum of $28.64.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
