About IG Group
IG Group is a FTSE 100 financial technology company operating at the intersection of retail trading, technology and capital markets. Founded in 1974 as the world's first spread betting firm, IG has grown into a global leader in online trading, serving over 1.3 million clients worldwide across Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and North America through trusted brands including IG, tastytrade and Freetrade.
Overview
We're looking for a senior commercial leader to be the commercial and planning engine of IG's APAC business. This is the Managing Director's primary commercial leader: the person who owns commercial strategy, pricing, business analytics and strategic projects across the region, and who makes four market businesses sharper by the quality of their thinking and the strength of their relationships.
APAC runs as four market businesses, with a Head of Market for Australia, Japan, Singapore and Emerging Markets reporting to the Managing Director. This role sits alongside them: not running a market, but owning the commercial agenda that runs across all of them, and working hand in glove with the Head of Product, APAC to keep business strategy and the product roadmap pulling in the same direction.
This is a high-ownership, high-influence seat. It will suit someone who is equally strong at framing the hardest commercial questions and driving them to a decision, at building the analytics and pricing rigour underneath them, and at leading the projects that turn strategy into results.
Why This Role Exists
A region of four autonomous market businesses needs one commercial brain that sits alongside the markets and pulls them together. Someone has to own the strategy and capital-allocation questions across APAC, set the pricing agenda, build the analytics that tell us what's really happening, and drive the biggest cross-market projects to completion. This role does that. It is deliberately built on influence and centrality rather than line authority over the markets: the market heads run their own P&Ls, and this is the seat that makes the whole region think and decide better. It's the commercial and planning centre of the division, and a board-facing one.
What You'll Own
Commercial strategy, planning and capital allocation. Frame the most important commercial questions across APAC and drive them to a decision. Own the multi-year planning process, the capital-allocation model across the four markets, the targets and the commercial cadence. This is the planning brain of the region, and a board-facing voice on where the division invests and why.
Pricing. Own the pricing agenda across the APAC portfolio, from trading and investments to crypto, a lever that touches every market's P&L. Bring structure and evidence to pricing decisions, and own the link between how we price and how we perform.
Commercial and business analytics. Own commercial and business analytics as the evidence engine behind strategy, pricing and capital allocation. Lead the analysis of commercial performance across the markets to surface trends, opportunities and risks, and build the competitor and market insight that informs the big decisions. Turn data into recommendations, not just reporting.
Strategic and special projects. Lead the division's most important cross-market commercial projects end to end, from framing and business case through delivery and post-launch tracking. Develop and pressure-test greenfield propositions, evaluate new segments, revenue diversification and strategic partnerships, and remove the blockers that slow priority initiatives down. Lead the project managers who deliver alongside you.
Partnership with the four market heads. Work as the commercial partner to the Head of Market for Australia, Japan, Singapore and Emerging Markets across strategy, pricing, analytics and projects. This role delivers through influence and centrality, not line authority: you make the region stronger by the quality of your thinking and the trust you build, aligning four autonomous businesses around a common commercial agenda.
Partnership with Product. Work very closely with the Head of Product, APAC to align business strategy and capital allocation to the APAC product roadmap. The Head of Product owns the roadmap and its sequencing; you are the business owner they work with, bringing the commercial case and the market priorities into roadmap decisions so that strategy and product pull in the same direction.
Board-quality thinking and cadence. Prepare board-quality memos, papers and presentations for the Managing Director and group leadership, including the operating-review cadence. Take complex, ambiguous commercial questions and turn them into clear, defensible recommendations that senior stakeholders can act on.
Team leadership. Build, lead and stretch a high-performing team spanning commercial analytics and projects. Set the bar for analytical rigour and delivery, and grow the talent that becomes the region's commercial bench.
What You'll Bring
You've led commercial strategy, pricing or planning at a regional or divisional level in financial services, trading, brokerage or fintech, and you've owned the hardest commercial questions rather than supporting from the side. You combine genuine strategic instinct with real analytical rigour: you can frame an ambiguous problem, build the business case, pricing or capital-allocation model underneath it, and drive it to a decision.
You're an exceptional influencer. This role has its impact across senior, autonomous market leaders and cross-functional partners without line authority over them, so the ability to build trust, earn a seat at the table and align independent businesses around a shared agenda is essential. You're comfortable as a thought partner to a senior executive, and you produce board-quality work as a matter of course.
You've run major cross-functional projects with real governance, and you've built and led teams across analytics and delivery. Experience across APAC markets, familiarity with pricing across trading or investment products, and an understanding of how commercial strategy and a product roadmap fit together are all strong advantages. Awareness of MAS or equivalent regulatory considerations as they touch commercial decisions is helpful.
The Fit
This is a senior, central, high-influence seat: the commercial and planning brain of IG's APAC business, sitting beside the Managing Director and shaping strategy, pricing, analytics and the biggest projects across four markets. It's demanding, cross-market and built on influence rather than hierarchy, and it offers something rare: the breadth to shape an entire region's commercial agenda, combined with the ownership to drive the work all the way to results. If that's the mandate you've been looking for, we should talk.
Diversity & Inclusion
We believe that diversity is vital to success. It fuels creativity, drives innovation and sets us up for global success. We're committed to building teams with a variety of perspectives and skills, and we encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences to join us on this journey.
