Position Summary 

Hope & Healing Clinic is seeking a compassionate and motivated Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT) to join our Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) program. Working under the supervision of a licensed Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP), the SUDPT provides counseling, case management, treatment planning, and recovery support while developing the clinical skills necessary for independent licensure. 

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals pursuing SUDP certification who are passionate about harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals affected by substance use disorders. 

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide individual counseling and case management services under clinical supervision.
• Conduct screenings, biopsychosocial assessments, and assist with treatment planning under supervision.
• Develop, implement, and update Individual Service Plans (ISPs) based on member needs and clinical recommendations.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups.
• Complete timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation in the electronic health record.
• Prepare required clinical documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, referrals, administrative documentation, and other required state and agency forms.
• Monitor member progress and coordinate care with medical providers, peer support specialists, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Participate in treatment team meetings, clinical supervision, and case consultations.
• Maintain compliance with Washington Administrative Code (WAC), Department of Health requirements, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality regulations.
• Support members using a compassionate, person-centered, trauma-informed, and harm reduction approach.
• Maintain professional boundaries and uphold the highest ethical standards.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and required continuing education.
• Assist in implementing clinic policies and procedures while identifying opportunities for quality improvement. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT) credential in good standing.
• Active enrollment in, or completion of, a Washington State Department of Health-approved SUDP educational program.
• Eligible to practice under the supervision of a licensed Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP).
• Knowledge of substance use disorders, recovery principles, trauma-informed care, and person-centered treatment.
• Strong written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency and experience using electronic health records.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
• Reliable transportation for occasional travel between service locations.
• Must successfully pass required background screening, credentialing, and all required employment testing. 

Knowledge, Skills & Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in behavioral health, addiction treatment, social services, community health, or with underserved populations preferred.
• Familiarity with ASAM Criteria, Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), and Washington State behavioral health documentation standards.
• Knowledge of or experience utilizing:
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Recovery-oriented systems of care
  • Trauma-informed and person-centered care
• Cultural humility and culturally responsive practices
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Excellent organizational, time management, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining professionalism and sound clinical judgment.

Working Conditions 

This position operates in a fast-paced outpatient Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) serving individuals with substance use disorders. The role requires sound clinical judgment, professional boundaries, flexibility, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in high-stress situations. 

Services are provided both within the clinic and, as needed, in community-based settings. Employees must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, wind, and other environmental conditions while providing outreach, mobile services, or supporting clinic operations. The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and safely travel between service locations. 

Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday hours may be required to meet operational needs.
