Salary Range ($52,578 - $78,867)
The Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant II - Human Resources. A successful applicant would provide administrative support to the Human Resources Manager and performs a variety of administrative and technical human resources functions in support of the Human Resources Department. Assists the Human Resources Manager with the administration of HR programs and Airport initiatives, maintains personnel records and confidential employee information, and ensures the accuracy and integrity of employee data. Supports recruitment and onboarding activities, prepares reports and correspondence, and assists the Human Resources Manager with the implementation and communication of personnel policies and procedures. Assists the Executive Assistant as needed with respect to the overall operation of the administrative office and the central administration support functions of the Airport Authority.
Applicant should have a knowledge of:
- Modern office practices, procedures, and administrative support techniques.
- Human resources principles, practices, and procedures related to recruitment, onboarding, personnel records, benefits administration, leave management, workers' compensation, and HR compliance.
- Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), electronic records management, and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Records management practices and the proper handling of confidential and sensitive information.
- Business writing, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting standards for professional correspondence and reports.
- Customer service principles and practices.
- Office organization, filing systems, and records retention practices.
Applicant should have skill in:
- Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Maintaining accurate records, files, and databases.
- Preparing reports, spreadsheets, correspondence, presentations, and other business documents.
- Organizing work, prioritizing assignments, and managing multiple deadlines.
- Performing detailed data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
- Preparing, proofreading, and formatting correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and other operational and legal documents.
Applicant should have ability to:
- Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive personnel information.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with employees, applicants, management, and the public.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors, and outside agencies.
- Interpret and apply policies, procedures, and administrative guidelines within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
- Compile, analyze, and summarize data and prepare accurate reports and recommendations.
- Organize and prioritize work assignments while meeting deadlines.
- Exercise discretion, tact, and professionalism in responding to inquiries and resolving routine personnel matters.
- Coordinate multiple projects and administrative activities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effectively utilize new software systems, technology, and Human Resources applications.
- Provide exceptional customer service while representing the Human Resources Department and Airport in a professional manner.
Applicant should have the following minimum qualifications:
High school diploma or GED. Three years of office and administrative experience is required. Experience performing HR administrative functions is preferred. Associate's degree in business administration is preferred.

- May be required to work occasional evenings or weekends to support emergency operations, special events, or other Airport Authority business.
- Required to obtain and maintain a Notary Public commission within six (6) months of employment.
