Description
Catawba County Social Services is seeking a flexible, energetic Office Support Specialist to support the Senior Nutrition Programs team. This part-time position provides coverage and assistance across Seniors Morning Out (SMO) sites, home-delivered meals, and office operations, helping ensure seniors in our community receive safe, reliable, and high-quality services.
This position is part-time, working 20 hours per week, and receives benefits (prorated at 50%).
Schedule is typically Monday – Thursday from 8 AM – 1 PM. One Friday morning per month is required, with weekly hours adjusted accordingly to maintain a consistent 20-hour-per-week schedule.
- Assist Nutrition Site Supervisors at Seniors Morning Out (SMO) sites with site preparation, daily activities, meal services, and clean-up
- Support Home Delivered Meals (HDM) routes, including packing meal bags and coordinating route pickups
- Provide full site coverage when a Site Supervisor is on leave, including client transport assistance, attendance tracking, food service, meal delivery coordination, and site lock-up
- Report No Deliveries (NDs) to the main office as needed
- Provide general office support, including assistance with fundraisers, pet food distribution, paperwork, and phone and door coverage
- Assist families and caregivers in picking up frozen meals
- Deliver meals for Meals on Wheels when volunteer coverage is unavailable
- Bachelor's degree in any field; OR
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration or related field; OR
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and 1 year of office/clerical experience
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record (driving is an essential function of this position)
- Ability to work effectively both independently and under the direction of Site Supervisors
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with seniors, caregivers, families, and volunteers
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Reliable availability for the required schedule, including occasional coverage needs
- Ability to safely handle and transport food service items and assist clients with mobility needs as required
- This is considered medium work, lifting up to 50 pounds frequently, which could include meals, pet food, SMO supplies, commodities, etc.
