Description
New York City | Full-time | Five days onsite
We are hiring software engineers at mid-level, senior and staff levels for forward-deployed engineering opportunities at Legora.
About Us
Legora is redefining how legal work gets done. Not built for lawyers, built with them. We work alongside the world’s best legal teams, who expect excellence, precision, and speed, and we hold ourselves to the same bar.
Our AI-native workspace lets legal professionals move faster, think more clearly, and operate with sharper precision. By analysing thousands of documents in minutes and powering end-to-end workflows, we cut through complexity so teams can focus on what matters: judgment, strategy, and outcomes.
2,100+ customers across 80+ countries trust us, including Cleary Gottlieb, Goodwin, Linklaters, White & Case, Dentons, and Barclays. We’ve scaled to $200M+ in ARR, with teams across Europe, North America and APAC, and continue to expand through acquisitions including Qura, Walter AI, Graceview, Cadastral, and Wexler.
We partner with world-class performers, including Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees, Ludvig Åberg (and his caddie), and campaigns featuring Jude Law.
Joining Legora means three things.
- We lean in: ownership over titles, outcomes over intentions.
- We fight for excellence: high standards, direct, ego-free feedback.
- We grow together: as a team and with our customers.
Mission before ego. Everyone contributes. No one coasts.
If you’re driven by impact, pace, and raising the bar, this is the place.
The Role
Join Enterprise Engineering in New York City and build production software that connects Legora to our enterprise customers’ systems and workflows.
You will work directly with customers to understand their needs, then turn those requirements into reliable integrations and product capabilities. Your work will span customer-specific engineering and contributions to Legora’s core product. You will use technical and product judgment to decide what to build and where a solution can become useful beyond a single engagement.
This is a hands-on software engineering role. You will write code, make technical decisions and work closely with product engineers, Legal Engineers and Engagement Managers. Your scope and independence will reflect your level.
What You’ll Do
- Turn customer needs, systems and technical constraints into clear requirements and working software.
- Design, build, test, deploy and maintain integrations and product capabilities, balancing delivery speed, reliability and maintainability.
- Investigate issues across Legora and customer environments and take responsibility for production quality.
- Explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to engineers and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to turn individual customer solutions into reusable product capabilities.
- Work from our New York City office five days a week, with close collaboration across engineering and customer teams.
Scope by Level
- Mid-level: Own defined features and integrations through delivery, with support on broader architecture and ambiguous requirements.
- Senior: Independently scope and deliver complex projects, resolve ambiguity and own technical decisions and stakeholder communication.
- Staff: Shape architecture across projects, solve the most complex technical problems and develop reusable approaches that improve delivery across the team. Remain directly involved in implementation.
What You Bring
- 2-3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production software, with ownership and scope appropriate to your level.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and sound judgment about reliability, maintainability and delivery speed.
- Backend or full-stack engineering experience and the ability to contribute effectively in an existing codebase.
- Clear communication and an interest in understanding the people and workflows behind a technical problem.
- Comfort learning unfamiliar systems, troubleshooting issues and adapting as requirements become clearer.
- A willingness to work onsite in New York City five days a week.
Experience with enterprise integrations, APIs, authentication and data flows is useful. We use TypeScript extensively, but welcome strong engineers from other stacks. Prior forward-deployed or B2B enterprise engineering experience is a plus. You do not need to have held a Forward Deployed Engineer title.
Compensation
The base salary range across these levels is $175,100 to $369,150, plus equity. The published Junior/Mid-level range is $175,100 to $245,000; the published Senior/Staff range is $237,150 to $369,150. Compensation reflects the level, scope and impact of the role.
What’s In It for You
- Global collaboration: Partner with teams and clients domestically and internationally.
- Competitive package: Salary, meaningful equity, benefits and tools for success.
- Meaningful work: Your efforts shape how thousands of lawyers use AI daily.
- In-person environment: A Union Square office designed for ambitious builders.
