Job Overview
The Logistics Coordinator works to support the Commercial Recycling Logistics Department. This individual should be highly organized and possess stellar written and verbal communication skills. Must have a high regard for customer satisfaction, be a team player, and can think quickly on their feet.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, delivering exceptional customer service through all interactions.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of customer requirements, service schedules, pricing, and site-specific needs.
- Coordinate and schedule transportation activities, including customer pickups, deliveries, routing, and calendar management.
- Communicate pickup schedules and service updates with customers, drivers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Enter and maintain customer orders in SAP and other customer-specific systems, including recurring and pre-scheduled service requests.
- Prepare and maintain transportation and regulatory documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), manifests, DOT labels, driver instructions, and related shipping paperwork.
- Monitor shipments, timelines, costs, and service performance to ensure customer expectations and operational objectives are met.
- Respond to and resolve transportation issues, service delays, customer concerns, and driver-related challenges.
- Provide real-time support to drivers, customers, and warehouse personnel to ensure successful completion of scheduled services.
- Process and maintain transportation records, including manifests, permits, driver files, vehicle inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate equipment management activities, including preventative maintenance scheduling, repair tracking, and fleet documentation.
- Maintain operational reporting and tracking tools, including fuel usage, diesel consumption, mileage, productivity, and other fleet performance metrics.
- Review and update incomplete, canceled, or rescheduled service orders, ensuring accurate documentation and system records.
- Assist with specialized customer programs, data management activities, and order processing requirements.
- Collaborate with internal operations, warehouse, sales, and customer service teams to support business objectives and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare accurate operational, compliance, and performance reports for management review.
- Monitor and support compliance with DOT, environmental, customer-specific, and company regulatory requirements.
- Conduct periodic audits of driver permits, certifications, and compliance records to ensure accuracy and regulatory adherence.
Requirements
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in logistics coordination, transportation planning, or supply chain operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to professionally manage customer interactions. Professional communication experience required
- Experience working with carrier portals (FedEx, UPS, LTL providers, etc.)
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and transportation compliance standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and ERP systems (SAP experience preferred)
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Experience transporting Universal Waste preferred, but not required
