Emphasize safety as a number one value of Whissell including ensuring that safety policies and safe work
methods are implemented at the jobsite

Have a thorough knowledge of the plans and specifications of the project •
Develop, monitor, update and communicate the schedule progress •
Be responsible for tracking actual production quantities and costs and reporting them to the Project
Manager
•
Oversee all field correspondence/site documentation to the Owner, Engineers, Subcontractors, Vendors,
etc.
•
Review with superintendent/foreman manpower requirements and inform PM should a change be needed •
Work with superintendent/foreman to ensure that deliveries are expedited and coordinated •
Coordinate changes to the contract including communication with superintendent/foreman and ensure
documentation is updated
•
Be involved in project scheduling, including three weeks look ahead schedules •
Review the project schedules with the Project Manager •
Review and inform PM of invoice payments •
Attend site meetings the General Superintendent is unable to be present for and take down necessary
information.
•
See that safety policies and safe work methods are implemented at the jobsite •
Immediately stop and correct safety and/or environmental violations or infractions •
Manage subcontract schedules and monitor quality of work •
Establish and maintain a professional relationship with the Owner, Project Engineers, local businesses, and
police and fire departments
•
Gather and review daily jobsite reports •
Compile productivity factors from field reporting, compare the actual to expected production factors and
report back to Superintendents, Foremen and Project Managers
•
Compile and track quantities and costs; document, plan revisions, Change Orders and all other paperwork
required on the project
•
Be familiar with specifications, shop drawings, and submittals •
Interface with general contractors and subs and be detail oriented with follow up skills •
Responds to inquiries from department personnel regarding assigned project status •
Comply with Whissell and local Occupational Health and Safety regulations •
Monitor employee compliance with OHS rules and standards •
Maintain and foster a clean and organized work environment •
Maintain project files •

Other duties may include assisting with pre-qualifications, tender estimates, and the development of
equipment and tunneling procedures as required. These duties are also viewed as a great avenue for
professional development.
•
A degree in Civil Engineering or CET is required. •
Registration with APEGA or ASET is preferred. •
Demonstrated experience in construction project coordination/management. •
Job site experience in heavy construction, micro-tunnel construction in rock, soft ground and mixed
conditions and renewable energy including wind and solar construction
•
The ability to work with a wide variety of construction trades, engineers, inspectors, owners, and utility
representatives.
