Position Summary:

• Under the supervision and guidance of the Medical Director, the Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management services to adults/children and adolescents with mental health and/or co-occurring substance use disorders.
• The Psychiatrist works collaboratively with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, nursing, care coordination, substance use treatment providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to promote integrated, high-quality, patient-centered care.
• This position is ideal for a psychiatrist who values community-based care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and serving diverse and medically and socially complex populations.

Position Functions

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
• Diagnose and treat psychiatric and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Provide medication management, including prescribing, monitoring treatment response and side effects, and adjusting medications as clinically indicated.
• Conduct suicide, self-harm, violence, and other clinical safety/risk assessments and coordinate appropriate interventions or higher levels of care when necessary.
• Collaborate with primary care, behavioral health, nursing, care coordination, substance use treatment, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Participate in treatment planning, case conferences, clinical meetings, and care coordination activities as needed.
• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
• Participate in quality improvement, risk management, peer review, and other clinical initiatives as requested.
• Maintain all required licenses, registrations, certifications, continuing medical education, credentialing, and privileging requirements.
• Perform other duties within the scope of psychiatric practice as assigned by the Medical Director.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York State.
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry preferred.
• Current DEA registration when required for assigned prescribing responsibilities.
• Ability to meet VIP Community Services credentialing and privileging requirements.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based approaches to psychiatric care.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
