Director / Senior Director – Strategy & Planning
Location: India (Mumbai)
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Strategy & Planning team at Marsh Risk, a Marsh business. This role will be based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
We will count on you to:
Strategy & Planning specialists help leaders to develop and carry out their short- and long-term business plans. In close partnership with management teams, they research and develop business cases for key strategic initiatives, prepare tactical implementation plans and manage critical projects. A Lead Strategy & Planning Specialist is a recognized subject matter expert and a senior individual contributor who manages large-scale projects, coaches team members, and solves complex problems.
What you need to have:
- Provides research, analysis, and recommendations on the external environment (competitors, industries, legislation, etc.) as part of the development of strategic plans for the various companies.
- Identifies strategic issues and research requirements for existing and new business.
- Manages multiple planning phases throughout the planning lifecycle.
- Analyzes major competitor strategies and identifies and monitors changing patterns of competition and recommended response.
- Acquires and maintains information sources on markets, industries, economic, clients, competitive environment and trends pertaining to our business models and plans.
- Oversees all aspects of complex projects, from start to finish, so that it is completed on schedule.
- Serves as the liaison and represents the Company with external sources of information and services including professional associations, consulting and research firms, universities, and government.
- Monitors the work of other Planning personnel on specific tasks and assignments and serves as a mentor to lower level professional and support staff.
- Prepares and assists in presenting issues of significant importance to Senior Management.
What makes you stand out?
- 10–12+ years of experience in strategy, planning, and/or business transformation, including 5+ years in a Strategy & Planning leadership role within financial services/insurance, consulting, or a large GCC environment.
- Proven ability to shape and execute enterprise strategy—translating market/competitive insights into clear strategic choices, operating plans, investment cases, and measurable outcomes.
- Strong planning and governance capability, including ownership of annual/quarterly planning cycles, KPI frameworks, performance reviews, and cross-functional execution cadence.
- Experience driving digital, data, and AI-enabled transformation (strategy through execution), with a practical understanding of value sizing, prioritization, and adoption/change management.
- Exceptional executive stakeholder management, influencing senior leaders across geographies and functions and aligning diverse priorities into a shared roadmap.
- Structured problem-solving and communication skills, with a track record of developing board/senior leadership-ready narratives, business cases, and decision materials.
