As a Manager of Supplier Quality you will manage a group of Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs), Analysts and/or Admins to proactively assure the quality of supplied components within that group’s assigned commodities and responsibilities.
As a Manager of Supplier Quality, You Will:
Lead department in creating, developing and implementing strategic objectives and action plans to improve supplier quality performance and support overall company objectives. Coordinate and communicate plans with other departments such as Procurement, Operations, and Engineering to assure overall company supply chain objectives are met.
Monitor department progress in achieving objectives and plans. Develop and implement changes as needed to achieve objectives.
Assist in developing and maintaining department systems / processes. Key systems include; supplier non-conformance tracking (PPM rejects at Copeland plants), department Quality Management System (ISO policies and procedures), PPAP, deviation, and supplier audits.
Assure New Product Development (NPD) programs are properly supported by SQE. APQP principles should be proactively employed to assure suppliers are capable of producing parts consistently meeting all requirements.
Lead department in effectively selecting capable suppliers and developing suppliers as needed to assure quality parts.
Assure that supplier quality performance is monitored and, when needed, that action plans are developed and implemented to correct quality issues. Assure supplier system audits and process audits are performed as needed.
Staff department with qualified personnel. Develop personnel through monitoring their performance, mentoring, coaching, and providing training as needed. Adhere to all Copeland Human Resource requirements for Managers.
Assist employees with establishing their annual objectives and assure the objectives support overall department and company objectives. Evaluate employee job performance and attainment of objectives per Human Resources process.
Develop annual budget for the group. Monitor budget and group’s spending. Make spending or budget adjustments as needed to achieve budget objectives.
Function as the Commodity SQE for specific commodity assignments.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Experience and proficiency with leading, supervising, and training others.
Experience with developing and executing strategic objectives and setting goals for others.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Manufacturing (or equivalent work experience)
Quality engineering experience including formal training in: APQP; Flow Charting, Control plans, PFMEA, Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis (Gage R&R)
Written and verbal communication and leadership thru all levels of a global corporation. Preparing slides for communication to leadership.
Problem Solving, Corrective Action, Process Improvement Techniques, Quality Auditing; Quality Systems; ISO 9001 and/or IATF16949
Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications including GD&T.
Computers and software as relates to business and quality needs.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Masters Degree in Engineering or MBA
Materials Engineering knowledge is a plus
Certifications in ASQ (CQA, CQE, CSQP), Certified 6 Sigma Green Belt or Equivalent
Balance and understand various needs of stakeholders (Operations, Procurement, Product Engineering, suppliers), adapt decision making process to the situation and collaborate towards a common goal.
Collect and use data to make decisions and drive results. Plan and align your work towards strategic and tactical goals. Provide clear and concise updates to our internal Project Management Organization.
Advanced statistics, problem solving, and process improvement techniques.
Understanding/knowledge of Lean principles (Kaizen, Std work, Kanban, VSM, Continuous Flow, 5S+1, Poke-yoke, waste elimination
Onsite Work Arrangement:
This role is based fully onsite, and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities.
