Job Description – Legal Counsel, Labor & Employment

P&G is seeking a talented and experienced attorney to join its Legal organization in the Labor & Employment Law practice group. The candidate will work directly with clients to solve problems creatively and manage legal needs across critically important and rapidly evolving legal areas. The position requires strong cross-team collaboration with business clients, multifunctional partners, and legal colleagues and is located at P&G's corporate headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Employment Counseling & Compliance

• Provide day-to-day legal counseling to HR professionals and business leaders on the full range of employment law matters, including hiring, discipline and termination, accommodations, leaves of absence, anti-discrimination and anti-harassment laws, wage and hour compliance, and workplace investigations.

• Monitor federal, state, and local employment law developments and proactively communicate legal changes and their business implications to stakeholders.

• Develop, draft, and review employment policies, handbooks, and written guidance to ensure compliance with applicable employment regulations.

• Develop and deliver employment law compliance training for HR clients and business partners.

Employment Litigation

• Manage employment-related litigation, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative proceedings (EEOC, state civil rights agencies, DOL), including developing litigation strategy, overseeing discovery, and coordinating with outside counsel.

• Draft position statements, responses to government agency charges, and other legal pleadings.

• Conduct witness interviews, prepare witnesses for depositions and hearings, and develop case strategy.

• Evaluate and recommend settlement strategies and risk assessments for pending and threatened claims, and manage case budgets and deadlines to ensure timely, cost-effective resolution.

Labor Relations

• Advise on labor relations matters under the NLRA, including union representation campaigns, collective bargaining agreement negotiations, grievance handling, and unfair labor practice charges.

• Support management in maintaining positive employee relations and assist with labor strategy in both unionized and non-unionized settings.

• Monitor NLRB developments and advise on emerging labor relations trends, including joint-employer issues and protected concerted activity.

Job Qualifications

A successful candidate must have:

• A J.D. with outstanding academic performance, with moot court, law review or judicial clerkships preferred;
• Approximately 0-3 years of experience working as a lawyer with a law firm, in-house legal department or a government agency;
• Experience managing or supporting employment litigation, administrative charges, and agency proceedings is preferred;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and problem-solving skills;
• Established record of success in professional and personal activities;
• Proven leadership ability as well as the ability to work as a member of a team; and
• Membership in at least one state bar in good standing.

Compensation for roles at P&G varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience.
