Essential Job Functions
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting functions.
- Analyze, create, and/or revise departmental policies and procedures.
- Hire, train, supervise, provide performance reviews and retain all accounting staff.
- Monitor and ensure that the accounting department completes assigned tasks on time and follows NMMC policies and procedures.
- Define problems, collect pertinent data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to initiate appropriate course of action.
- Participate in the transition of properties into and out of NewMark Merrill Companies.
- Review many of the monthly financials and meet established deadlines.
- Review and approve quarterly and annual CAM reconciliations and meet established deadlines.
- Review and approve AR adjustments for CAM disputes.
- Maintain property insurance certificates for all managed centers as well as prepare what is needed for annual blanket policy renewal and workers comp audits.
- Responsible for managing any property insurance claims.
- Manage the annual budget process and implementation to include review, approval, tracking and follow-up to completion on all budgets. Attend annual budget meetings.
- Provide various financial information to property owners upon request.
- Perform any additional duties or tasks as assigned by the CFO or CEO.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and least 5 years supervising an accounting department.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and property management accounting systems invoicing systems. (MRI and AVID a plus)
- Excellent communication skill. Must be able to balance listening and talking, speak and write clearly and accurately, influence as necessary and keep others well informed.
- Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills.
- Ability to change direction and focus without a lot of notice.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Results oriented with the ability to overcome obstacles to get things done, ability to prioritize.
- Must be able to effectively convey ideas, images and goals to a diverse group of stake holders and personalities.
