Position Summary
The Analyst plays an integral role in supporting Huntington Private Capital's investment activities, including underwriting commitments to private equity and private credit funds, evaluating co-investment opportunities, and monitoring a diversified portfolio of SBIC fund investments and underlying portfolio companies. The role requires strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills, as well as the ability to synthesize financial, operational, and market information into clear investment recommendations and portfolio reporting.
Duties & Responsibilities
Investment Underwriting & Due Diligence
Analyze prospective private equity and private credit fund investments, including strategy, track record, portfolio composition, team assessment, and risk factors.
Perform financial modeling and cash flow analysis to support investment recommendations and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
Review fund governing documents, partnership agreements, subscription documents, and investment memorandum materials.
Conduct due diligence on fund managers, portfolio companies, industries, and market trends.
Portfolio Management & Monitoring
Support ongoing monitoring of Huntington's SBIC investment portfolio, including fund performance, capital calls, distributions, valuation updates, and portfolio company developments.
Prepare portfolio review materials, performance dashboards, investment summaries, and management reports.
Track compliance with investment guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
Maintain portfolio data and assist with reporting to executive management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
Research & Analysis
Conduct industry, market, and economic research to identify trends impacting portfolio performance and future investment opportunities.
Analyze sponsor activity, fundraising trends, valuation environments, and private credit market dynamics.
Distill complex financial and market information into concise written analyses and presentation materials.
Team Collaboration
Partner with investment professionals, finance, legal, risk management, and credit teams to support investment execution and portfolio oversight.
Assist with preparation of investment committee materials, approval memorandums, and management presentations.
Support special projects related to portfolio analytics, regulatory reporting, and strategic initiatives.
Other Responsibilities
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field).
1 or more years of experience in commercial banking, credit underwriting, investment banking, private equity, private credit, SBIC investing, asset management, or a related financial services environment.
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
High attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced investment environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Coursework or internship experience in finance, investment analysis, commercial banking, private equity, or credit underwriting.
Familiarity with financial statement analysis, valuation methodologies, and private capital markets.
Interest in lower middle market private equity, private credit, sponsor finance, and SBIC investing.
Experience using financial databases and research platforms such as PitchBook, Capital IQ, Refinitiv, or similar tools.
