About us
Comprehensive Rehab Consultants is a physician practice that brings physiatry and primary care directly to patients in skilled nursing, assisted living and long term care facilities. Our clinicians see patients where they live, in more than forty states. Behind them is a corporate team based in Oakbrook Terrace and a significant offshore workforce supporting operations.
About the role
We are hiring our first dedicated HR Manager. Today HR runs through a small team handling day to day transactions and a finance executive carrying everything else. This role takes over the operating side of HR and builds the programs we do not have yet: a real onboarding experience, a consistent employee survey program, employer brand, and internal communications.
This is a build role, not a maintenance role. You will have a capable transactional team behind you, a clear list of what needs to exist, and real latitude to create it. You will report to the CFO and work closely with clinical operations and the leadership team.
What you will do
- Own onboarding for corporate and administrative hires, including building a structured first 90 days that sets new employees up to succeed.
- Manage day to day HR operations: PTO administration, employee records, HR correspondence, payroll support, and compliance filings and attestations.
- Handle incoming employment correspondence and legal notices, including garnishments and unemployment claims and appeals.
- Administer leave: prepare eligibility determinations and notices under FMLA, ADA and state leave laws, coordinate paperwork, and work with operations on coverage.
- Support employee relations: intake, document and investigate concerns, and prepare findings and recommendations for leadership.
- Run the annual performance review cycle for corporate and non-clinical employees end to end, and conduct exit interviews, reporting back on what we learn.
- Own our employee survey program, from the annual engagement survey through quarterly and pulse surveys, and drive the initiatives that come out of the results.
- Build and run employer brand: monitor and respond on Glassdoor and Indeed, post on LinkedIn, and spotlight employees on a regular cadence.
- Own internal communications, recognition and culture, including the employee newsletter, milestone and life event recognition, and company offsites and team get togethers.
- Partner with leadership on town halls and company wide communications.
- Guide and support the HR team on process, prioritization and quality of work.
What we are looking for
- 3 to 7 years of progressive HR generalist experience.
- Multi-state employment experience. Our workforce spans more than forty states and the questions that reach HR are frequently state specific.
- Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, wage and hour, and state leave requirements, and the judgment to know when something needs legal review.
- Experience building at least one HR program from the ground up, such as onboarding, engagement, recognition or employer brand.
- Strong, clear writing. A large share of this role is written communication to employees, agencies and outside parties.
- Comfort with HRIS and modern collaboration and data tools.
- Sound judgment and discretion with confidential information.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Nice to have
- Healthcare, multi-site or distributed workforce experience.
- Experience supporting remote or offshore teams.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
Schedule and location
Full time, Monday through Friday, hybrid with two days per week on site in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
