Job Description
Brookfield Infrastructure Group’s Investment teams are responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing new investment opportunities, as well as supporting strategic and capital allocation decisions across the Group’s existing portfolio. The team evaluates opportunities across Brookfield Infrastructure’s core sectors, including data infrastructure, transport, utilities, energy and other infrastructure-related businesses, while continually assessing new sectors and investment themes.
Based in Toronto, the Vice President will be a senior member of the Infrastructure Investment team and will work closely with senior investment professionals and operating teams across Brookfield’s global platform. The role provides significant exposure to the full investment lifecycle, including investment strategy and origination, transaction evaluation and execution, due diligence, financing and structuring, investment committee processes, and ongoing portfolio and capital allocation decisions.
The Vice President will play a leadership role in developing investment theses, evaluating opportunities and driving transaction execution. This individual will oversee financial analysis and due diligence, coordinate internal and external workstreams, prepare recommendations for senior management and investment committees, and contribute to the development of new investment opportunities and business relationships.
The role is well suited to a highly motivated investment professional who combines strong commercial judgment and financial capabilities with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing investment, business development and transaction strategies across Brookfield Infrastructure’s target sectors.
- Lead industry, company and market research to develop investment themes, identify attractive sectors and originate potential transaction opportunities.
- Develop investment theses and identify potential value creation opportunities, key investment considerations and transaction or deal structures.
- Lead the financial evaluation of prospective investments, including valuation, financial modelling, returns analysis, financing considerations and scenario analysis, while overseeing work prepared by junior team members.
- Working closely with Brookfield’s operating teams, lead transaction due diligence to validate the investment thesis and business plan and identify key investment risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate with legal, tax, finance and other internal teams, as well as external advisors, to lead transaction execution and ensure transaction documentation and structuring are consistent with the investment thesis and business case.
- Prepare and present investment committee materials, transaction recommendations, bid letters and other materials for senior management.
- Support negotiations and key transaction workstreams through signing and closing.
- Contribute to portfolio and capital allocation initiatives, including evaluating strategic opportunities and potential follow-on investments within existing businesses.
- Build and maintain relationships with management teams, industry participants, advisors, financial institutions and other market participants to develop new investment opportunities.
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to junior investment professionals, fostering their technical and professional development.
- Contribute to a flexible, dynamic and team-oriented culture that emphasizes collaboration, accountability and high-quality execution.
- Lead special projects and strategic initiatives as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Approximately 8–10 years of relevant professional experience, with a strong investment background and demonstrated transaction experience. Infrastructure investing experience and relevant sector knowledge are preferred.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure investing and familiarity with one or more of Brookfield Infrastructure’s core sectors, including data infrastructure, transport, utilities and energy.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating and executing complex transactions, including financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, structuring and transaction documentation.
- Strong conceptual and financial capabilities, with the ability to understand the broader strategic and commercial context while remaining hands-on and maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to develop well-supported investment judgments from complex or incomplete information.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced environment, adapt quickly and manage multiple priorities and transaction workstreams.
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and relationship-building capabilities.
- Demonstrated business judgment, leadership ability and initiative.
- Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior executives, investment committees, management teams and external counterparties.
