Pay Information: Hourly : $33.89 - $42.37

Position Summary

KQED is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Marketing Coordinator to support the Marketing team's paid promotion of KQED content across digital, social, out-of-home, and other advertising channels.

This role will be a key project management and creative production partner, helping move campaigns from brief through final delivery and launch. The Marketing Coordinator will manage creative production timelines, maintain campaign and asset trackers, coordinate deliverables with external agency partners, manage owned promotional inventory, and help identify content opportunities for marketing support.

The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, a keen eye for design and copywriting in a digital-first environment, and experience with social-first creative and short-form video.

KQED envisions a public media organization with a culture that centers on human dignity, equity, and belonging. This will enable us to better serve and reflect the Bay Area through diverse and inclusive storytelling.

We value the contributions of marginalized people in society — including Black, Indigenous, and all people of color,  people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ people — and we believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do, and we strongly encourage members of these communities to apply.

KQED Code of Ethics  https://www.kqed.org/about/code-ethics

The mission that drives us:

KQED provide citizens of Northern California with a community-supported alternative to commercial media.   We provide citizens with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions; convene community dialogue; bring the arts to everyone and engage audiences to share their stories. We help students and teachers thrive in 21st-century classrooms, and take people of all ages on journeys of exploration- exposing them to new people, places and ideas.

This role will work hybrid between working in KQED's newly renovated headquarters and working remotely.
Essential Functions

  • Support the execution of paid marketing campaigns promoting KQED content across digital, paid social, video, out-of-home, and other advertising channels.
  • Manage creative production timelines and workback schedules, proactively tracking deadlines, outstanding assets, feedback, approvals, and deliverables.
  • Maintain detailed campaign and creative asset trackers, ensuring project status, source materials, specifications, links, approvals, and final assets are accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate creative production with KQED's external agency partners, preparing briefs and source materials, tracking revisions, consolidating feedback, and confirming final deliverables.
  • Partner with internal Content, Editorial, Social, and Creative teams to gather photography, video, copy, publishing information, and other materials needed for campaigns.
  • Support copywriting and creative development for digital advertising, bringing a strong eye for clear messaging, visual hierarchy, and platform-appropriate creative.
  • Support the development of social-first creative and short-form video for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, with an understanding of hooks, pacing, storytelling, and platform conventions.
  • Review final creative for accuracy, brand alignment, technical specifications, and consistency with the KQED content being promoted.
  • Maintain organized archives of campaign creative and source materials for easy reference and reuse.
  • Assist with campaign reporting and post-campaign documentation by organizing creative examples, campaign records, and learnings.
  • Manage owned promotional inventory across KQED channels, tracking availability and coordinating how inventory is allocated across competing priorities in partnership with Marketing Interns.
  • Review upcoming Articles & Guides content and recommend which pieces should receive marketing support.
  • Manage KQED’s on-site merchandise kiosk, including inventory, merchandising, restocking, and coordinating merchandise needs with internal teams.

Required Experience

  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing a high volume of concurrent creative projects, deadlines, workback schedules, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to maintain accurate, organized project and asset trackers.
  • Experience coordinating creative production and working with designers, video producers, agencies, or other creative partners.
  • Strong eye for design and visual storytelling, with the ability to evaluate creative for clarity, hierarchy, brand consistency, and effectiveness.
  • Strong copywriting and proofreading skills, particularly for concise, audience-focused digital advertising.
  • Experience developing, producing, or coordinating social-first creative and short-form video.
  • Understanding of digital creative best practices across paid social, display, video, and other digital formats.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate feedback, deadlines, deliverables, and next steps.
  • Proactive working style with the ability to identify missing information, anticipate roadblocks, and independently move projects forward.
  • Ability to work effectively across internal teams and external agency partners in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools such as Airtable, Asana, Monday.com, Google Workspace, or similar platforms.
  • A passion for KQED's mission and connecting audiences with high-quality journalism and programming.
