We have an exciting opportunity for a positive, solutions-focused and practical Construction Solicitor to join our in-house Legal team.

Anglian Water is delivering £11 billion of capital projects, with further growth expected from 2030 onwards. We have been at the forefront of delivering capital works through alliances, and our current arrangements are due to be retendered in readiness for 2030. This is a pivotal opportunity to influence the procurement strategy and establish the commercial and legal foundations for our future alliances over the following 15 years.

What you'll be doing

• Drafting and negotiating the key delivery contracts for the next three asset management periods, covering services including design and construction for capital investment projects and repair and maintenance across our water and water recycling networks.
• Providing legal and commercial input throughout the tender process, including supporting evaluation and scoring where required.
• Leading contractual negotiations with bidders and ensuring subsequent drafting accurately reflects the commercial agreements reached.
• Working closely with internal stakeholders to provide practical, solutions-focused advice on complex construction and procurement matters.
• Helping shape the commercial and legal framework for Anglian Water's future delivery alliances.

What we're looking for

• A qualified solicitor with experience of drafting and negotiating high-value, complex construction contracts in private practice or industry.
• Strong experience of NEC4 construction contracts.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation and prioritisation skills.
• Confident communication skills, with the ability to advise on complex issues and provide constructive challenge.
• Strong commercial awareness, sound drafting and technology skills, and a track record of delivering excellent customer service.
• A practical, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.

Desirable

• Around 10 years or more of relevant post-qualification experience. We also welcome applications from candidates with less experience who can demonstrate the required skills, behaviours and potential.
