Business Analyst – Systems Analysis | Asset Management

Are you a Business Analyst with strong Systems Analysis experience?

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with strong Systems Analysis capabilities to join a leading Asset Management / Investment Management environment on an initial 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on BA who enjoys working at the intersection of business, systems and technology, translating business needs into practical solutions and supporting those solutions through to delivery.

About the Role

As the Business Analyst, you will act as the key link between business stakeholders and technology teams. You will be responsible for understanding business requirements, analysing processes and existing systems, identifying gaps, and translating business needs into clear functional and system requirements.

This is not purely a requirements-gathering role. We are looking for someone who can understand how systems, processes, data and technology work together within an Asset Management environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Engage with business stakeholders to understand business needs, challenges and objectives.
• Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions, workshops and stakeholder discussions.
• Analyse and document current and future-state business processes.
• Translate business requirements into detailed functional and system requirements.
• Analyse existing systems, applications, workflows and business processes.
• Identify system, process and functional gaps and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Analyse system dependencies, integrations, interfaces and data flows.
• Document business rules, workflows, use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Work closely with developers, architects, testers and other technical teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Support solution design and assess the impact of proposed changes.
• Perform gap, impact and root-cause analysis.
• Assist with data analysis and investigation where required.
• Support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Validate delivered functionality against agreed requirements.
• Assist with defect investigation and resolution.
• Maintain clear requirements documentation and traceability.
• Ensure business and technical stakeholders have a shared understanding of requirements and expected outcomes.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Business Analysis, Systems Analysis or a similar role.
• Strong Business Analysis and Systems Analysis experience.
• Proven experience within Asset Management, Investment Management or a closely related investment environment.
• Strong requirements gathering and requirements documentation skills.
• Experience with functional and system requirements.
• Business process analysis and process mapping experience.
• Experience conducting gap and impact analysis.
• Experience working with both business and technical stakeholders.
• Experience across the technology/software delivery lifecycle.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Asset Management Experience

Your understanding of the Asset Management / Investment Management environment is important to this role.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly relevant:

• Investment operations
• Fund administration
• Investment accounting
• Unit pricing
• Trading and transaction processing
• Securities / instrument data
• Investment performance and reporting
• Reconciliations
• Corporate actions

Advantageous Skills

It would be beneficial if you also have experience with:

• SQL and data analysis
• Systems integration and interface analysis
• Investment / Asset Management platforms
• Agile / Scrum environments
• Jira and Confluence
• Microsoft Visio or other process-modelling tools
• SIT and UAT
• Relevant Business Analysis certifications or qualifications

The Ideal Candidate

You are an analytical, structured and solutions-focused Business Analyst who can comfortably engage with both business and technical teams.

You can take a business problem, understand the underlying process, investigate the systems and data involved, define clear requirements, work with technology teams on the solution, and support the solution through testing and delivery.

You are comfortable asking the right questions, challenging assumptions, identifying gaps and turning complex business requirements into clear, practical outcomes.
