As part of its continued expansion, our client is seeking a capable and detail-oriented Accountant to join its finance team.
Job Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements. The role will work closely with the finance team and relevant internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial documentation.
- Handle day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and management reports.
- Perform bank, ledger, supplier, customer, and other account reconciliations.
- Monitor receivables and payables and ensure timely follow-up and settlement.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, cash flow statements, and financial analyses.
- Ensure transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Assist with audits by providing required schedules, documents, and financial information.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records.
- Identify discrepancies or irregularities in financial records and take appropriate corrective action.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to resolve finance-related queries.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Part qualification in CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification will be an added advantage.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience in handling reconciliations, payables, receivables, and general ledger activities.
- Good knowledge of MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with accounting software or ERP systems will be an advantage.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy in handling financial information.
