GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Product Owner – Data Governance Implementation will actively partner with Data Product Owners, Data Engineers, Regulatory Reporting teams, Risk, and Technology stakeholders to establish and operationalize Data Quality and Critical Data Standard requirements for recently and newly developed data products and supporting data lifecycles. The incumbent will be responsible for defining and implementing governance, metadata, lineage, data quality, control, and monitoring requirements necessary to support regulatory reporting initiatives and sustainable data product management.

This role serves as the connection between business requirements, regulatory expectations, data governance standards, and technical implementation teams to ensure that data products are developed with required controls and documentation embedded throughout the lifecycle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Governance & Requirements

• Define and document Critical Data Standard requirements for newly developed data products.
• Establish governance requirements throughout the data product lifecycle from source acquisition through consumption.
• Partner with Data Product Owners to identify and document Critical Data Assets (CDAs) and Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
• Facilitate development of business glossary, data dictionary, and metadata requirements.
• Define ownership, stewardship, and accountability models for new data products.
• Translate regulatory reporting requirements into actionable data governance and control requirements.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

Collaborate with Data Governance, Data Engineering, Architecture, Risk Management, Regulatory Reporting, and Product teams. Present recommendations and status updates to leadership and governance forums. Drive consensus across stakeholder groups regarding governance and control expectations. Identify opportunities to standardize and automate governance processes within modern data architectures.

Category III Program Support

Support governance readiness efforts for Category III reporting initiatives including LCR, NSFR, FR 2052a, SCCL, and related reporting assets. Facilitate workshops with business, technology, and governance stakeholders. Track governance deliverables, dependencies, risks, and remediation activities. Support validation activities to confirm implementation of governance, documentation, and control requirements.

Data Product Lifecycle Management

Develop lifecycle requirements covering design, build, implementation, monitoring, change management, and retirement activities. Establish governance tollgates and required deliverables for new data products. Define service level requirements, operational support expectations, and monitoring standards. Ensure data products are designed to support downstream regulatory reporting and data consumption needs.

Data Quality & Controls

Define and implement of data quality control requirements for critical data elements. Establish monitoring, escalation, and remediation requirements for data quality exceptions. Identify required preventive and detective controls across the data lifecycle. Assist teams in designing sustainable control environments aligned with the Critical Data Standard. Support creation of evidentiary requirements for control performance and validation.

Data Lineage & Metadata

Define end-to-end business and technical lineage requirements. Document source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and data movement requirements. Ensure lineage captures support regulatory traceability and audit expectations. Coordinate implementation of metadata management requirements within enterprise tooling.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and related work experience-
• 4+ years of related experience years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Engineering, Regulatory Reporting, Data Product Management, or related disciplines.
• Experience supporting financial services regulatory reporting initiatives.
• Experience implementing data governance and data management capabilities at scale.

• Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt) desired.

• Basic business acumen and understanding of business processes related to your product and customers.
• Experience working in Agile or SAFE development a plus.
• Ability to promote a work environment that fosters creative thinking and innovation.

• Collaborative with strong intellectual curiosity and creative problem solving.
• Good analytical skills with ability to work through concepts/data and present well thought-out, simple solutions.
• Ability to self-motivate and work well independently and with different teams; A self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Technical Skills

• SQL and data analysis skills
• Data warehousing and modern data platform concepts
• Experience with metadata, catalog, lineage, and data quality tools
• Familiarity with relational database technologies

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
