About this role
We are looking for a Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney with 1+ years of experience to join a collaborative, remote-first firm that handles cases from inception through appeal. Whether you're an experienced comp attorney or a civil litigator looking to transition into a new area of law, McNamara & Drass offers a comprehensive training program and a bonus-heavy compensation structure that rewards hard work.
What will you be doing?
- Handling workers' compensation defense cases from initial setup through appeal
- Valuing cases early and often, giving clients the option to settle or continue litigation
- Collaborating with partners and fellow associates on case strategy
- Building and maintaining relationships with adjusters and clients
- Meeting a monthly billable target of 220 hours with opportunity to earn significant bonuses above that
Key Requirements
- Active California Bar license (required)
- Minimum 1 year of legal experience (civil litigation or workers' comp)
- Strong interpersonal skills and client-facing ability — this is a customer service business
- Demonstrated job stability (no pattern of frequent job changes)
- Willingness to learn and handle cases the firm's way, with a conservative approach to billing
